Guest guest
I'm 58 now, and always had bladder issues, which my parents reacted to by giving me pads and telling me that girls and women leak sometimes, and I was starting this a little early. I was never made to feel that I was weird, or special, and no one ever knew about my problems. In fact, it was rather a surprise to me when I was in my 20's and things got worse and I discovered that what I considered 'normal' was NOT considered so by others. I am everlastingly grateful that my parents reacted this way. Reading about children having a urodynamics test makes me wince. I can't imagine that I could have ever grown up with much self-esteem if my parents had made any kind of fuss over it. The medical establishment seems to thrive on making federal cases out of problems that they offer no solutions for, but of course, they earn fees by consulting and testing, which suits them, even when the net effect on the child can't possibly be helpful. I wish that all you concerned parents might refuse to be overly impressed by Doctors. Find the simplest way to deal with the problems and then relax about it. This is the only way to re-inforce the belief that life's problems can be effectively dealt with and that life is well worth living even if we aren't " perfect " . One tip about the bladder, caffeine irritates it at any age. Try to keep kids away from sodas that contain caffeine. This might make a major difference. Also citrus might effect things. Good Luck!!
