Guest guest
why would you think you have MS? do you have any other symtoms beside potty during the nite?
Guest guest
My neurologist has ruled out everything else. His words " I'm sure you have MS. I just can't prove it yet " . When you traack new symptons, how do you know they are due to MS and not due to aging? Margot > why would you think you have MS? do you have any other symtoms beside potty > during the nite? Guest guest
Margot, You don't know. It is probably neither, the only reason you are wondering is because you have ms. Don't worry, just keep on keeping on. Merry Christmas !! Regards, Tom
Guest guest
DEAR MARGOT, ARE YOU TAKING MEDS THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE GETTING UP AT NIGHT TO VOID?? IF I FORGET TO TAKE MY BP MEDS AND TAKE THEM LATE IN THE DAY I HAVE TO GET UP MORE OFTEN. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU JUST KEEP A RECORD OF YOUR DAYS AND LIST ALL THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN INCLUDING THE TIME OF DAY AND AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS YOU MAY BE ABLE TO SEE A PATTERN . ....... BUT I WOULD GIVE IT TO THE DOCTOR AND TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT SO YOU KNOW HE IS READING IT AND LET HIM SORT IT OUT. MERRY CHRISTMAS LYNN
Guest guest
I hadn't thought about that. I did find my journal that I had misplaced. It was in the mitten box. Go figure. I will start keeping a journal again and hopefully remember where I put it. Margot > DEAR MARGOT, > ARE YOU TAKING MEDS THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE GETTING UP AT NIGHT TO VOID?? Guest guest
Margot, It's hard to say with bladder problems, just exactly what is causing them. What is your bladder activity like during the day? I know that what I'm experiencing now is because of the MS.. I'm having bladder spasms.. and have been having them for a couple years. They do come and go. I do get some days, even sometimes a week or more of normal bladder function... well nearly normal.. LOL.. If you've only had to get up once during the night I wouldn't know where to begin to decide which is the case. In my case, I'm usually up every 2 hours to go potty.. But during the day, I'm in the bathroom as frequently, if not more so. You might get a more definitely answer, one way or the other, from a urologist. Now that I think about it. My neurologist sent me to a urologist before anything was done about my spasms. The urologist will have you empty your bladder, and then do a sonogram of your bladder (at least mine did).. He was able to tell me that I retain about 2 ounces of urine in my bladder even though I feel that I've completely emptied it. And I guess that might have been what led him to the conclusion that I'm having bladder spasms. I know he prescribed some sort of blood pressure medication.. (I'm not the doctor with the training here).. because it was supposed to help whatever problem he'd decided that I had.. But I didn't take that very long, I didn't see an improvement, and my blood pressure runs normally low to begin with, I don't think I need to lower it more.. LOL.. So my neurologist then prescribed Ditropan for the bladder spasms, and I was once again able to sleep the whole night through, or at least a good six hours straight before I had to get up to go. I just started back on the Ditropan, and I sure hope that it kicks in and starts working again real quick.. I'm tired of stumbling to the bathroom, half asleep, hoping to remain that way long enough to do my business and get back into bed, and back to sleep quickly.. That hasn't been happening lately.. Hope this helps, at least somewhat.... Oh.. I nearly forgot.. your ob/gyn might be able to help you with the question as well.... Uterine Prolapse, seems to happen with age (it's also hereditary on my mother's side) and along with the Uterus dropping, the bladder goes as well.. the bladder dropping, can cause the frequency and urgency as well. Either way, I don't think the doctors will do much, if you've only got to get up once during the night to go, it's when it becomes more frequent than once a night, that they think about giving you anything to stop the midnight forages in the john.. |)onna P.S... These are just my experiences and my opinions.. but I find that similar experiences help when trying to sort through the things the MonSter visits upon us.. Dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway > How do you know something is a symptom of MS versus something that > happens because you are getting older? The last 3 weeks I have been > getting up during the night to go potty. I've never had to get up > through the night and now it is every stickin' night. Is this from > MS or because I'm getting older? How do you tell the difference? > > Margot > > >
