Guest guest
Hello MSersLife members! My name is Pamela and have recently joined this group. I am not sure if I really fit here. I have Fibromyalgia and Thyroid problems and in addition have been going through many test to determine the cause of my blackouts of consciousness. I believe that this has been occurring since the very beginning when I became ill with the Fibromyalgia. As I am sure many of you know too that sometimes our symptoms can be overlooked when there is so much going on. It was recently brought to my attention from a friend that they thought I was having seizures. I was a bit surprised, but listened to her and then she sent me an url of the symptoms of seizures. Well to my amazement it had my name all over it!! For the next couple of days I began thinking about all the periods of blackouts that I had been having for the past 5 years and started piecing it all together. And it became clearer to me that I was either having seizures or something else unknown to me that has seriously interrupted my life. One of the things that scared me the most was that I didn't even realize what was happening to me wasn't normal and that everyone else wasn't experiencing the same things. For the past year I have had many periods where I go out of consciousness on a regular basis. This occurs many times while driving and I would pull over sometimes as I would get this feeling that I was going to go out of consciousness. I thought it could be that I was tired or something as I don't sleep well due to the Fibromyalgia. This also happens in almost every other setting in my life. I also have tremors that usually go with these periods, but not always. As a result I spoke to my doctor and also realized that I shouldn't be driving anymore. I feel very fortunate that I didn't hurt anyone or myself. It has been since the first week of October that I haven't been driving and going through many test to determine the cause. Sure has changed my life, just when I thought it couldn't get worse as I have a very difficult time with my Fibromyalgia. I have had a brain MRI, which came out okay. I have had an EEG and it came out okay. And many other test to find out what is happening. They are looking at everything to be sure, so am scheduled to have a sleep test done to determine if I have sleep apnea or narcolepsy. They are also scheduling me to have a 24 hour EEG to test for seizures and they are also doing nuero-physc testing to test many things as I struggle so much with my memory and speech. I often get very confused after I have these episodes and can sleep for anywhere from a couple of hours to three days. And they almost always bring on these really horrible headaches that won't go away no matter what I take for them. I know this is rather long, but this is my story and what I am going through right now. And maybe now you can understand why I am not sure if I fit here. I have over the years had many symptoms of MS and my doctors keep looking as all my symptoms don't fit only the Fibromyalgia. For those of you that took the time to read my story, I thank you for listening. I look forward to getting to know some of you here. Hugs and Happy Holidays~ Pamela a.k.a.
