Guest guest
Asacol is far less reactive than Azulfidine. (Though it is somewhat less affective also.) I take Azulfidine without problems. Guest guest
I have two small areas of mild UC according to my GI. He insisted that I use Asacol and it caused symptoms of UC that I had never experienced before. We stopped it after a week long trial and I don't take anything now--but I'm probably not typical. I am still on megadoses of sulfa for my abscesses......... Penny
Guest guest
Hi - I take Asacol 3 times a day, 800mg each time. I was previously on Azulfidine. Haven't had any problems with either. I also take Actigall twice a day, 300mg a pop. Other than being annoyed about taking this stuff, I've had no bad side effects :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Asacol, never worked for me. Budesonide is the answer to my prayers, (for now). > > > <html><table><tr><td><pre> > Does anyone take this, and if so, are there any side effects? Guest guest
Gracie, I've been on Azulfadine since my UC was dx about 10 years ago. It took awhile for them to get the dosages right but my subsequent colonoscopies have been good so I guess it's working! I haven't ever noticed any side effects. However I've noticed the UC is acting up more lately, in the past few months. I have an app't with the GI guy the 17th of this month and will ask him about it. He mentioned he wanted me to have another colonoscopy this spring. Yuck. But I guess it's necessary to keep up on what's happening in there. Take care, Peggy McG ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
YES. I had never had any symptoms until the first dose. I was really uncomfortable and running to the bathroom sveral times a day. The fact that my UC was so minor, the doctor made a judgment call and discontinued it. Again, I am not typical....... And I still (after 21/2 years) have no UC symptoms. At least I'm lucky with something! No fever since last week! Penny krooner1@... wrote: > Penney, > > What kind of symptoms? Guest guest
Gracie, I have been taking it for three years now. The only thing that I remember reading is that it causes ringing in the ears. I went from 2 tabs 3x a day to 4 tabs 3x a day. I do remember that when I first went on it my diarrhea stop immediatley. I hope it helps Ed. Take care, Larry ------------------------------------------------------------------------
