Health Experts Predict Most Severe Consequences will be Loss of Prescription Drug Benefits " New York Times article by By Jo Almost 1 million elderly and disabled people lost their Medicate HMO coverage effective today as plans leave Medicare's HMO program. The programs end disproportionately effects the elderly and disabled and their numbers represent almost one sixth of the participants in Medicare's program nationally. While many are guaranteed enrollment in Medigap programs and continued Medicare coverage these programs do not include prescription drug benefits.
