Kerri- Thanks so much for saying that- really made my heart smile Having walked a few miles in those shoes, it makes me feel good to come full circle from desperately seeking answers/help/support, to being able to give it out just the same. I used to want that crystal ball to tell me, what will his future be? Hearing from other parents further down the road and seeing kids as severe as mine looking straight as can be, certainly helped ease my mind. That's one of the reasons I stick around, to allow parents to see that light at the end of the tort tunnel- takes awhile, but when you get there, its all worth it!!!!! Guest guest
Kerri Hi! I to am a starband mom and i'm very pleased with our decision. My son MAtthew has had some very ood correction over the last two months. We were so concerned that this would'nt happen due to his age. (9months almost 10) His ortho has been fantastic. I'm sure you will be very pleased with your results. We have the starscanner and it is neat but my ortho says it is a very rare machine. But either way I would have gone to them with or with out the machine because I really like the ortho I talked to and was also very pleased with her experiance. I hope all goes well with your molding. And you will soon see a rounded little head!! and L Covington GA Starband sd302001 <thedodds@...> wrote: We are getting the Starband in Gainesville florida (about 1hr 45 minutes from home). Guest guest
Kerri, Did you have Cigna???? It really does not matter to me what they pay it under as long as they pay!!!!!! My appeal states that I want it paid under DME but the rep told my mother-in-law it is disposible medical equipment either way the initials are the same.. thanks for the info. Guest guest
Kerri, In our insurance policy it states that we have 100% coverage under durable medical equipment, they originally billed it under external prosthetic appliance (EPA). When my mother called the rep told her that DME was something that could be reused by others, and that disposible medical equipment was what the band could be considered because once the child is done with it it was no longer usable her example was such as a cast for an arm or leg they would have to keep replacing that cast untill the bone was healed as the child grew (same as children who need multiple bands). I find it funny that insurance company's never mention all they tiny ways they get around paying for things..... all I know is the longer I have to wait for an anwser the more pissed I get. I will will fight till the very end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your help. (DOCband grads mom)shannon152000 <wolfekm@...> wrote: ,No, I have UHC, I always thought the initials DME *always* meant Durable Medical Equipment (someone chime in if I'm wrong!!) - just thought I'd mention it so you can reference the right thing. Somehow I don't think of the bands as "disposable" since the kids use them for up to several months, not just one day and toss it... As long as they pay, doesn't matter what they call it!Kerri's mom (DOCgrad)> > > > HI! new to the group. I have identical twin boys who are now 8 > > > > months old. Guest guest
Kerri, Your email made me cry! Thank goodness you had me laughing at the end of it! I know all to well the crying that your talking about at pt, it was such an emotional time for me, and I think only the parents that have witnessed the intensity of this, can understand how much anguish one can feel all at once. Thank you for being there for everyone to support them through this process. I know you will continue to offer your wonderful information and support as I've seen you do countless times. My family and friends are still clueless about why this place was so important to me, I guess its because only my "imaginary friends" understand where I've been and how important this is. Thank God I had this group to "hold my hand", and I'm so glad you have felt this way too! Thanks for the good cry 'mom
Guest guest
I'm glad you have shared that. I thought i was the only one who looked at her swirly cowlick. My husband is awesome with the kids but doesn't think about combing their hair in the morning or anything. My MIL is definitely a member of the plagio police now too. Angie Re: Angie Angie,My husband thinks I'm crazy - yesterday her hair was not only swirling, but puffing a bit at either edge of that teeny flatness - making it look really wide and flat... I kept trying to wet it down. He just doesn't even look at that stuff. I dropped the girls at daycare this morning (dh usually does), and she commented that dh doesn't usually comb 's hair in the morning LOL. Guest guest
Hi Kerri, Hannah has been taking a few steps and walking short distances since the first week of October. It's weird though b/c the most I've counted I think so far is about 15 or so steps, but she still prefers to crawl usually. It does amaze me how someone with such little legs can move so quickly though! Hannah graduates tomorrow! Did you ever get s CT before/after pics? I looked in her folder the other day, but only saw the ones you took. --- In Plagiocephaly , " shannon152000 " <wolfekm@h...> wrote: > , > Wow, Hannah's walking too? Guest guest
Wow Kerri, that is so neat that she has rounded more post graduation. What neat keepsakes the before and after headsicles will be. I can just picture her at show and tell in kindergarten with her " heads, " lol! It is so neat to see Hannah's before headsicle near her head now too b/c she really was so severe. It's amazing really! The pix cranial tech took really show her ear improvement too. Do you have a big party planned for 's bday? I'm just starting to plan Hannah's party. I can't believe she's that old though! I also am looking forward to turning her carseat around. She actually still fits in her infant seat she's such a peanut! We aren't doing a graduation celebration, but are having one big party for her birthday which we figure will be birthday/graduation/housewarming! Happy early birthday to ! > > > , > > > Wow, Hannah's walking too? In some ways it's easier, but she > sure > > is > > > fast... How much longer in the second band?
