Guest guest
It is good to hear that I am not the only one who is afraid of going to the doctor, and i am a nurse! LOL For some reason, I feel that they will not take my complaints seriously and minimize them. Last time I went to my internal medicine doc, I was having pretty severe PMS. She kind of laughed and told me to take Black Cohosh. I could have done that on my own. I also told her how severe my arthritis was, and asked her if it could be RA. She laughed again and said, You don't have that! After doing my own research, I have found out on my own that eliminating or decreasing meat makes a difference with arthritis. I have learned that supplements like fish oil, glucosamine, selenium, cat's claw, vitamin C, ginger and tumeric help the inflammation in the joints. Why couldn't she have told me this, and given me some helpful suggestions instead of laughing at me? I haven't been back since, and I used to really respect her as a physician. I am going to see a new doctor next week. He is a rheumatologist. It takes 8 weeks to get an appointment, but I know he will take my complaints a little more seriously. I saw his physicians assistant 7 weeks ago, and he drew a bunch of labwork. At least they are taking me more seriously. Needless to say, I am still very nervous about this first appointment. Hopefully it will turn out well and I can make some postive changes towards feeling better CA
Guest guest
, I can relate to your fear about going to the doctor. I think its awful when doctors don't take us seriously, and i have had quite a few do that to me too. The pain is real, whether they choose to believe it or not. I think doctors should have to take some compassion classes - where they learn how to be empathetic with their patients and take them seriously. I hope this new doctor is different. Please let us know how it goes. Hugs, Sierra wrote: >It is good to hear that I am not the only one who is afraid of going to the >doctor, and i am a nurse!
