lately, I hope and pray that your husband and brother do better in

the near future and I will also pray that the lump on your tongue is

nothing serious. Keep the faith strong and you will have good

things coming down your way. Hugs ~ROSA~

I'm so sorry about all the worry and stress you've been facing, Carol.

We're good listeners if you ever want to unburden yourself here instead

of carrying the weight alone.

I hope everything goes very well today and that the lump is benign.

Please check in and let us know how your recovery is going when and if

you are able.

You're in my prayers.

I'll tell you where to go!

hitting people hard... and the congestion hans on for ever...

[ ] Note from Carol

Hi All,

Checking in with all of you. I think I am on the other side of all the

tongue stuff, etc. I was doing fine on Hyperbaric Treatments until I got

this

Bronchial thing that is going around and had to stop. ( You can't have a

coughing attack in the tube). Went to the Dr. and his whole office was the

" working sick " # & $*)% Because of all my drug allergies he only put me on

Mucinex

OTC because you could feel my chest rattle. Went back today (1 week later)

and I now have Bactrim and Tessalon Pearls - Dr. says I have Pleurisy. I run

a

fever off and on - Tomorrow I need to get a chest exray. The chest pain is

pretty bad and fatigue when I do anything.

The point of above is - please be very careful because this infection sneaks

up and hits you with a pretty powerful punch. I think I got it from my

Grandson who I pick up from school 3 times per week, he had a cough and

sniffles,

but WE ALL get it so much worse. So please take care .

I know I haven't posted very much, I do read every post, it is just very

hard right now and would rather spend my energy keeping all of you in my

prayers.

Carol,

Glad your tongue is getting better, but sorry you've been so sick.

Kids love to share their germs.

I hope you feel better quickly. Pleurisy is so painful. Take it easy

and get lots of rest.

Oh Carol!

You have had a rough time, haven't you? Well, you are due for

something to go right.

Your warning to be careful is a good one--just yesterday my husband

asked me where my cane was as I staggered from the car into the bank,

and I told him " It is only a short distance, I can walk " but he went

back to the car and got it.

Two years ago when I stepped in a hole and broke my ankle, several

friends and family members started referring to me as " the Klutz " and

it really hurt my feelings. Follow your doctor's suggestion, and do

try to stay off the foot as much as you can.

As far as the color-blindness goes, you could take advantage of that,

say you have to go to a fashion expert to have them design a whole

new wardrobe for you to make sure you don't mix the wrong colors.

(Please don't think I'm making fun of you, just trying to lighten the

situation.)

You're in my prayers,

Judi

Well bless your heart, you have been having a time of it, haven't

you! Those doctors don't understand sometimes how we get off balance

a little easier than most folks. Maybe you can keep your poor ankle

in that certain comfy position enough to give you some relief. I am

sorry that you've been in a funk, it seems like this disease likes to

throw us the occasional curve ball, doesn't it. Will you have to d/c

those meds due to side effects? I didn't know plaquenil did that- I

was on it for a few years, & no apparent probs. We are sending out

good thoughts for speedy healing, and something fun to occupy your

time while you're off your feet. My kids think that

watching " Braveheart " is therapeutic for some reason. Well, that Mel

Gibson is pretty cute, even painted blue. :o)

Carol, sorry about all the trouble you are having. You're right,

just when you think you have a handle on this stupid disease, it slaps

you around with something else. I am having that happen to me now.

Just started the injectable MTX, started feeling better from an RA

standpoint, then get laid up with pneumonia. I haven't been ill

(cold, flu, ect..)since I was diagnosed with RA. I guess I've been

lucky.

Stay off that ankle. I would push for another x-ray. It could be

fractured and the swelling is hiding it. Keep it elevated, wrapped,

and use ice packs on it!! Take care and give yourself a rest...Marina

Hi! I take 200 mg for 2 x per day. The Opthamalogist has me have vision

field tests done every 6 months and now eye pressure and color tests.

According

to the Dr. I have a red/green deficiancy now. I have seen this Dr. for the

last 10 years, and he has tested my color vision before. It was real strange

to see blank pages in the test. He said the damage from Plaquinel shows up

right away for somethings and a real slow gradual for others. He also said

that I am getting cataracts #$ & @ from the prednisone??? But what are you going

to do? He is treating me for Sjorgrens and always checks the moisture in my

eyes. I currently have punctum plugs in both inner lower lids. Overall, I

am so much better since I started on the Enbrel and mix of meds that I now

take, that even if I complain, I would not go back and give up the good times I

have had. I babysit my grandson afterschool 3 days per week - he is 5. I

have my feral cat community that I love and try very hard to trap and neuter

as I can. I have never liked cats, but these guys are real characters. I

know I have to be very careful with the cats. We have automatic cat boxes, and

I always use gloves, wash my hands, etc. They are truly my little pride of

calico lions!

My tongue is finally healed. Yeah!!!!!! I got pneumonia from the

hyperbaric oxygen treatments which aggravated my Asthma, so I had to stop that.

I

started using biotene toothpaste, mouthwash, gum, etc. Brushing my teeth3

times

per day and rinsing with Biotene mouthwash. These products are expensive, a

small bottle of mouthwash is $7.00, ($5.00 at Walmart if I can get there),

but there is something in them that is antibacterial and seems to coat your

tongue and teeth. I really helped. If anyone has mouth sore or problems I

would not hesitate to start with them. The problem is the SLS-Sodium Laurel

Sulfate which is put in most toothpaste to make it sudsy. It is even in some

of

the " natural " brands like Tom's except for the children's flavor. This

ingredient is known to cause mouth sores? I usually pick up my supply of

Biotene

at the Super Walmart here and try to keep a back up supply, because of the

cost, but it really does work.

Sorry for such a long letter, again I want to encourage all to remember

their canes and use them. I have mine decorated with flowers, makes me feel

like

a flower child, not an old lady.

Gentle Hugs and Prayers,

Carol M. in CA

So sorry about your ankle and that you've been feeling down, Carol.

I almost hate to bring it up, but how is your tongue?

How much Plaquenil were you taking?

Carol,

I'm so sorry for what your going through. I love animals too, and so

I know what your going through. It isn't easy for you taking care of

the sick ones, and losing the little guys with your leg.

I will keep you in my prayers Carol, I'm so very sorry. If you need

Beth,

I did not start out to be a cat lover, but I have had these cats since

before they opened their eyes. Sometimes I think they do not know they are

cats.

The vet and my research does not give the remaining 4 much of a chance,

especially the 10 week old kitten, but I do have hope and prayers, which is all

I

can do. FIP is a terrible cat disease and wiped out a friends cattery of 60

rescued cats in one summer. I appreciate all the concern and prayers I have

received and had offered up for my babies. I guess I feel so helpless and

pretty full of cabin fever, my husband says that is how he feels when I am

sick. I got the Ortho tomorrow and hope that the exray will show good healing.

Again, thank all of you for your help.

Gentle hugs & prayers,

Carol,

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. Also sorry

about your cat.I really hope that your other cats

don't get sick. I am an animal lover also. We have a

wolf for a pet. We have had him since he was 2 weeks

old. He is just a big old baby. You are in my prayers.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Carol.

I'm sorry to hear about what you're dealing with right now. The cast is

making it very difficult for you to get around physically, and you're

starting to feel isolated. My heart breaks for you as far as the cats

goes. I also rescued a feral cat 2.5 years ago and he laid by my side

every single day when I was first sick with RA and bedridden for several

months. Sadly, he became sick 2 months ago and we had to have him

euthanized. I was heartbroken and still miss him to this day. I'm

fortunate enough to have another rescue cat who has taken over the job

of laying beside me and consoling me when I feel down or when I'm too

sick to leave my bed. For that I am truly grateful.

For some of us, having a pet to cuddle with or for companionship can

make all the difference in the world when you become ill and can't get

out much. You've done an amazing thing by providing these cats with

love and compassion that they would have otherwise gone without. I

find that it's a very rewarding experience because the animals show

their gratitude ten-fold.

It's sad to lose your pets, but at least you have the comfort in knowing

that you loved them more than they could have been by anyone else.

Take care,

Carol, so sorry that your leg is making you a prisoner and about your cats.

It must be hard to watch the events unfold and not be able to do much about

it.

I'll pray that your leg heals very soon and that the remaining cats make it.

Come here more often to talk about anything that is bothering you.

Hi Carol:

I am so sorry that you are feeling down. What you are

going through with your cats is just awful - I love my

fur critters as my family. In the past three weeks

two of my dogs have died, they were both 12 years old,

but thankfully they just lay down outside, fell asleep

and passed on. I have another dog that I have had for

almost 17 years, got her from a shelter when she was 6

weeks (all my dogs are strays or shelter dogs), and

she is beginning to fail, eyesight and hearing about

gone, getting weaker and her back legs are wobbly

(she's shepherd/husky mix). She has been my shadow

since the day I got her - I pray that she will simply

go to sleep one day as well and that I won't have to

go through putting her down. I have made that

decision for another dog, two horses and a pony, and

it was the best thing for them, but it was so hard,

and does not get any easier. For you to have to watch

your little kitties become sick and know that there is

no cure must be so heartbreaking and devastating. I

feel so badly for you, my friend. I know it's not

much comfort right now, but I am sure that you know

the Rainbow Bridge poem, and know they will be with us

again on the other side, whole and happy, and healthy.

Take care -

Dear Group,

I was very excited when i went to the Dr. today, I was hoping to have the

camo walker removed and be done with all of this broken leg stuff. Well I was

wrong :( I was afraid that something was wrong last night when I noticed

that the leg was really swollen and kinda in a " C " curve ( which I hoped would

be corrected with PT). The Dr. exrayed my leg and said that it was started

in break faster than heal again, and that we were right back where we were 10

weeks ago!!! So I am back in a plaster cast, no weight on the leg, and

probably using the wheel chair again. The Dr. is ordering my a " bone

stimulator "

to help with the healing, The cast was set and then the Dr. held the bone

straight to get it set straight. Really is sore. The only good thing is that

I

am doing pretty good with the crutches, when I began this I couldn't even go

across the room with crutches, this is my upper body PT.

This is just another reminder to be careful because our healing rate is so

slow that this seems like an eternity....I would hate my family to have to deal

with this....Please take care.

Gentle Hugs & Prayers,

i understand how you feel. i had surgeries on both my feet and many

infections and slow healing time there. but the worst was when they put a piece

of

bone in my wrist from my hip. i was in a cast for 8 months!~! every time i'd go

in he's take off the cast, wash it up, x-ray and put another cast on and said

next month. i kept praying to get my thumb for x-mas, but it didn't happen

until valentine's day.
