Guest guest
Quite a few nephrologists I've spoken to mention heavy alcohol use as a possible aggravator of IgAN. Guest guest
" mass quantities of alcohol " ?! My instincts say, look no further. I commend you for admitting that. It's very honest, even brave of you to say it here but really, if you drink a whole bunch of alcohol right after changing your meds (or anytime really)it stands to reason something would go wrong. I wouldn't worry about it beyond that. You're getting tested soon enough. J often reminds me that one of the resons he doesn't drink much or often, (and didn't even in University) is because his liver is already taxed by the meds he takes to keep his kidney functioning. That said, I would prepare myself for a lecture from my doctor (something along the lines of " Cripes , you're smarter than this " .)and practice looking suitably contrite. I would also probably resolve to leave the drinking to the frat boys in future. As a doctor friend of mine once said, " If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live? Guest guest
I like the "mass quantities of alchohol comment". When I drink alchohol my urine gets lighter since I'm passing tons of fluid. Maybe you are not hydrated enough. I drink over a gallon of water a day and my urine stays nice and clear. -Byron P.S. You are probably going to get a lot of replys about that comment. Personally, I'm going to have a good time while I'm here also. It refreshes the soul to go on a good bender every now and then, just not all the time. -----Original Message-----From: Sent: Friday, October 05, 2001 10:33 AMTo: iga-nephropathy Subject: What's Up with this...I've been off the Prednisone for almost a week and only 2 days after being off, my legs started to swell again. Guest guest
Thanks for the support! My doctor already told me that my legs swelling and the cloudy urine are not a result of drinking. He is a nephrologist afterall. Besides that, I was already swelling before the bender. It's not like I drink that way everyday. I could understand a lecture if that were the case. My creatinine was .7 last month. Actually, the urine is starting to clear. It's the swelling that's driving me nuts. I just went to pick up my container, and I've gained 5 pounds in a week. Believe me, it's not because I've been eating a lot this week. The bender was totally worth it. I felt like a real person again even if I'm not a frat boy. > I like the " mass quantities of alchohol comment " . When I drink alchohol my > urine gets lighter since I'm passing tons of fluid.
