Guest guest
Why Are We Suffering From Both Vitamin & Mineral Deficiencies? Here’s a good beginning: " ...soil drained of essential minerals... " Centuries of cultivating the same surface soil have slowly drained it of minerals. Most crops are grown on the same farmland and in the same few inches of soil, which has been tilled, year in - year out, for centuries. Pesticide and herbicide sprays falling onto the soil kill the good soil bacteria, which have traditionally released locked up minerals and helped to keep the soil fertile. However, once those soil minerals are released, there just aren’t any more unless you are in an area with glacial waters. Only nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium chemical fertilizers are added back into the soil. Special crops have been bred so that a maximum yield can be obtained by using just these few inexpensive chemicals. Essential minerals, trace minerals and rare minerals are not replaced and the resulting food crops are severely deficient in them. Such food crops will not contain many of the 90+ nutrients that we need. Even farming organically does not replace the depleted minerals. Few farmers have new virgin ground and have to convert existing, intensively farmed, mineral-depleted soil to organic. They rarely, if ever, add in trace minerals. Yet they are absolutely vital for life! Alarming Government Reports This state of affairs has been recognized by Governments for years. Scientific findings about soil quality and infertility for the last 60 years confirm that the situation is worsening. Year 1936 " No man can eat enough fruits and vegetables to supply his system with the minerals he requires for perfect health, because his stomach isn't big enough to hold them. " US Senate Document No 264 (1936) Year 1977 " …a varied diet will NOT provide all the ESSENTIAL trace elements… " US Department of Agriculture Report (1977) Year 1992 “There is deep concern over continuing MAJOR declines in the mineral values in farm and range soils throughout the world. " 1st Earth Summit, Rio de Janiero (1992) Will it be " FRESH nutritious fruit and vegetables...OR.advanced food storage technology? " It is a wonder of modern technology that we can enjoy exotic fruits and fresh vegetables out of season - but there is a big downside. Fruit and vegetables only contain the maximum vitamins, antioxidants and other nutrients when they are allowed to completely naturally ripen on the plant and are eaten within hours of picking. Advanced storage technology can preserve appearance and texture, but not the nutritional value. They look pretty – but are they nutritious? Usually NOT. In fact, supermarkets, commercial growers, and even most consumers are not concerned with the vitamin and mineral content of fruit and vegetables. They just don’t even give it a thought, which is pathetic. When we select a blemish-free fresh apple, banana, orange or potato in the supermarket, we assume that it is highly nutritious. However, unlike processed foods, where synthetic vitamins can be added back in, there is absolutely no guarantee, usually, not even any information, regarding the actual nutritional content of the fresh fruit and vegetables you select. Hence our foods can be very low in vitamins, enzymes and other nutrients, as well as being short of minerals from being grown in mineral depleted soil. But a regular supply of vitamins is absolutely vital for life, and so it is hardly surprising that when the body cannot find the raw materials for rebuilding cells, our health steadily deteriorates. Just think: " we may be.absorbing as little as 10%... " When we are young, our body produces natural digestive enzymes and we are able to digest all types of foods easily. Enzymes release the vitamins and minerals from food, so that the nutrients can be absorbed through the intestinal walls into the blood stream and used for cell growth and proper activity. As we grow older, our bodies produce fewer enzymes, and we often experience indigestion when we eat foods such as cabbage, cucumber, hot peppers, etc. Many nutrients also pass straight through us, still locked up in undigested food, so that we gradually become nutrient deficient. So not only is our food nutrient deficient, but we even have increasing difficulty in absorbing the very limited nutrients that are still present. By our 40's, we can absorb only 50% of the nutrients that we could in our 20's. By our 60's, we may be absorbing as little as 10% of the nutrients..... and usually, we eat much smaller meals!! A sad but true commentary: " ...so well fed...so badly nourished... " Many researchers are now convinced that nutritional deficiency leads to poor quality cells and a deficient immune system. They believe that this is the reason why so many people today suffer from the ailments listed previously and why the serious modern diseases are galloping ahead. It was summarized decades ago by the US Congress as: " Never have so many people been so well-fed and yet so badly nourished. " That was then – it’s worse now. But most people survive! Evolution has enabled us to tolerate incredible deprivation and abuse, in the hope of better times ahead. However, this survival is at a cost! All our internal resources will be used to keep the vital organ functions working. The cost is low energy, tiredness, poor immunity against disease and even our emotional and mental state - many of the characteristics that we norma lly put down to growing older. Improving our future health lies in taking advantage of the explosion of biochemical knowledge, which has enabled the development of advanced nutritional products. Modern nutritional supplements are filling the gaps in our diets left by 21st century food production and lifestyle. " Reclaim your life! " Don't let your life drift away through poor health, tiredness or exhaustion which may just be nutritionally based. Don't accept your parents’ or grandparents’ expectation of the inevitability of deteriorating health with the onset of middle age. Try to take control of your own health. Many people have done this and are reclaiming a long and active life through optimum nutrition. For more information on why you need to investigate a more thorough nutritional program, and not leave your future health up to pure chance or good luck, get back to the person who gave you this information. Be sure to learn more about why you must alkalize your system, also, to achieve optimal health. High, assimilable, whole food nutrition and keeping the body properly alkalized can work wonders at improving our lives beyond the wildest hopes of anyone. Remember to pass this life-affirming information on to everyone you care about, too. It’s the right thing to do!
