Guest guest
Hi, Just want to say welcome and hope you can find answers that you are looking for. There is a lot of information here on LBD to help you through some of your rough spots and the rest are by questioning, so I'm glad you are. My husband has done this too. I think it's the lack of visuospatial awareness and they can't find the food and chew on their fingers. My husband has grabbed my fingers to chew on too, if they are in the way. He does not bite hard, more like nibbling. Visuospatial impairment is an LBD symptom. I don't know what can be done about it. My husband does not hurt himself doing it, so as long as it is harmless to him, I haven't bothered to stop it. My husband doesn't do it every day, but often enough. I guess you could stop it in the way that you can stop a thumb sucker, by putting some kind of bitter taste on his fingers. It hasn't annoyed me enough yet to put a stop to it, so that is the only answer that I have to offer. Jan chewing on fingers My Father recently started chewing on his fingers; mainly at mealtimes while Im feeding him like heis eating corn on the cob.Im wondering what causes this and what if anything can be done about it? Oh;he is 88 and has had L-B for 5 years.I am new here so I would have missed any discussion if any on this. Thanks
Guest guest
Jan, and daufe, It seems like I read somewhere and I don't know if it is about finger chewing, but you can hold their hand while you feed them.. Can't remember where I read that. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.
