I have a couple of lumps on my fingers, but they're not the kind you

can peel off; they're down under the skin. What color are these lumps?

Which finger joints are tender? Usually Osteo affects the joints

nearest the fingernails, and RA affects the middle ones.

What bloodwork did they do? You don't have to have a positive RF factor

to have RA. Keep pestering her until you get some answers. Or get a new

doctor, especially if she's not a rheumatologist. Sue

Hello - I believe it is common for people with RA to

get " lumps " around the joints, especially on or near pressure

points. They are called rheumatoid nodules. I have them on my

fingers and they are caused from being on a high dose of

methotrexate. I'm not sure what you mean by " peeling them off. "

That would not apply to the kind of nodules that I am talking

about.

I don't know how long you have been experiencing symptoms, but

diagnosis of an autoimmune disease can be complicated and

frustrating......sometimes it just takes time..... which is so

difficult when you are in pain and feeling sick/tired! Hope you

have a decent, supportive rheumatologist. I am amazed and disgusted

at the huge amount of agony described by people in this group who

have such uncaring and unprofessional doctors. Mine is not a saint,

but I appreciate him more after reading many of the experiences

posted here! The disease is bad enough - we shouldn't have to fight

for appropriate treatment and care.
