Dears all,

As yr silent "Motherator", I think we need to move on from the stalking and get back to Jung and those wonderful quotes about the collective unconscious.

Given the tense political situations, the world over, I am reminded of something very wise that the historian Arnold Toynbee observed: It is not what happens to a civilization but how it reacts to it that counts!

This, I am sure Jung would apply to individuals, and something I have tried to apply in my personal life:

It's not what happens to us but how we react to it that determines the outcome!

14 yrs ago I had a stroke which has to this day robbed me, a writer! of the use of my right hand and paresthesia - bzzzzzzzzing rt side everytime I move. When this happened, I had to decide whether I had the stroke or the stroke had me! Toynbee came to my rescue n I guess by now u all know what my decision was!

Given the times at present so many of us are being tested, let these wise words of Toynbee sink in and be a helpful guide! Jung certainly applied the same idea to individuals: think Helen Keller, as extreme example or Mandela.........

Toynbee, btw was one of the Oxford "Inklings", which included C.S. , Dorothy L. Sayers, as theologian, Louis MacNiece n others. Would that I could have been a fly on the wall at their meetings!

In haste but always

lovingly,

ao
