Guest guest
Hello Lindy Lou, This is Steph from VA adding my 2 cents on biologics. I'm 27 and was dx'd with arthritis in 1999 when I was 22. The rheumy that dx'd me believed in aggressive treatment. I was in my last semester of college at the time and saw him for about 5 weeks before I graduated and moved back to NYC (my college was is PA). Anyway, within 2 weeks of my dx Dr. Olenginski put me on methotrexate and also talked to me about this new (at the time) class of drugs called biologics. 6 months after I was dx'd I started Enbrel. About 2 months later I switched to Remicade. I'm still taking Remicade 5 years later. Remicade gave me the energy and pain control to slowly gain my confidence back. It has been my lifesaver. I was in a car accident in early June and I think my Remicade worked to protect me from an accident-induced flare. My current rheumy says Remicade working with my other meds has put me in a medication-induced remission. Take care, Steph in VA Ok folks, several biologics have been out on the market now for several years...do any of you swear by them that they have IMPROVED YOUR quality of living and such...do any of you believe that they have WORSENED your condition?? I am thinking about requesting to be put on a biologic for my RA (7 yrs now) and wondering which is the BEST, SAFEST, MOST EFFECTIVE, ya da ya da ya da.. Thanks all lindylou RA 7 yrs MTX only/pain pills as well..sigh. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " Never underestimate the power of a small, dedicated group of people to change the world -- indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
