Guest guest
Well, I don't know where to start...seen the doc Monday and got my blood results faxed and they all came back negative. (so I was lead to believe) After a couple of days passed - I decided to go get a copy of the fax from the Wyoming doc to see for myself and to have for my records. Upon first glance it does seem as if they are all okay. However, upon further examination - I noticed that there were values posted in lines across the page. Looked further and seen Sjorgens SSB POSITIVE and Hep B S AB Quant 61 POSITIVE. The hep b is from my hep b vaccine!!!!! Sjorgens SSB is @ a value of 1.11 or 111 hard to read through the lines as they must be from where she highlighted the page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My doc is an idiot!!!!!!!!!!! My RF is 1:80 my sed rate is 10, not the 25 that he says is normal!! CPK 95, C- reactive protein<0.5 and hemoglobin is @ 5.00. I am furious with the doc here and called the hospital in Wyoming to inform my mom's doc. It most likely is too late for her. My SSA is negative. Any suggestions or clues as to all of this would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!1 Thank you so much. I love all of you! KIM

Guest guest
Hi Kim, What a time you have, so sorry for that. I don't know that much about tests results, sorry I can't help you there. I pray that you will find a good doctor, and figure out your diagnose soon. Guest guest
Kim, If you have no symptoms of Sjogren's, I wouldn't be to concerned about it. You can get a positive SS-B for other conditions besides Sjogren's. Positive (percentage refers to sensitivity Sjogren's Syndrome (40%) Associated with Sjogren's of secondary cause Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (15%) Associated with late onset Systemic Lupus Associated with neonatal lupus syndrome Rheumatoid Arthritis (5%) Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca Syndrome Systemic Sclerosis (1%) Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (<5%) http://www.fpnotebook.com/RHE60.htm The normal reference range varies among labs, so you have to look at what is considered normal for your lab to see if something is elevated. a On Aug 26, 2005, at 8:01 PM, ksamedifference wrote: > Well, I don't know where to start...seen the doc Monday and got my > blood results faxed and they all came back negative. Guest guest
Kim, I am not nearly as educated on medical stuff as many people on this list, but I can share the little I know. On the ESR (sed rate), I suspect your doctor probably told you that normal was 25 because it is. I don't think there is anything " wrong " with having a low sed rate of 10. The ESR measures the inflammation in the body (inflammation is what causes much of our pain) so anything ABOVE 25 would be considered abnormal. My guess is that having a low ESR (sed rate) is a very good thing. The first time I went to a rheumatolgist, my ESR was 80 and I thought I would jump out of my skin. Now it hovers around 35-40 most months. I hope this at least puts your mind at ease on this one issue -- I cannot comment on the others. Take good care of yourself as you figure it all out. Guest guest
I don't necessarily think you're doctor is an idiot...I do think that he did a poor job of explaining it.I do think that most of those values are normal or better than normal!!! Most of us would kill for an ESR of 10. I've never heard an RF reported like that, but it doesn't 1:80 is a very low dilution...the higher the second number, the more positive it is. CRP <9.0 isnormal...therefore 0.5 is practically nothing! Obviously with those two values which are indicators of inflammation, you don't have much. I'm not familiar with US hgb values...but that is lower than the reference range I found and anemia could be responsible for a lot of your symptoms. CPK of 95, also means you don't have the inflammatory muscle conditions that are so awful (normal is less than 130)...With the exception of the hgb...it seems your doctor was right...your tests are all normal. HE just should've explained how to interpret them if he was going to provide you with the fax. This is a GOOD thing. Except it doesn't get you closer to the diagnosis. > Well, I don't know where to start...seen the doc Monday and got my > blood results faxed and they all came back negative.
