Case manager (?) at the regional center (?). Not sure I know what you are

talking about.

, I could be wrong, but this sounds like the Medicaid Waiver program. I

would think every state has one, but I wouldn't know the specifics ofhow it

works in GA. If your son has a medical card, ask his worker how you would apply

for the waiver for him. In KY, not only can you get the diapers/pull-ups, they

are delivered to your door by UPS. As I said, though, I do not know how it

works in other states.

Hi Sue,

Here is a link to information about regional centers here in CA:

http://www.ggrc.org/rr_lanterman_act.htm

I was going to try and explain it all, but this website does a much better job

that me! LOL! I know it is different state to state, but I'm sure GA must have

something similar to this?? Each person who receives services from their local

regional center is assigned a case worker, or social worker, who helps with

referrals, etc.

Regional centers are not connected with Medi-Cal (Medicaid). Medi-Cal is a

separate benefit, which some people who are receiving regional center services

may be eligible for.

Hope that helps to clear things up.

California has regional centers that are state funded but other states do not.

California has the Laterman Act. We currently live in California but are going

to move to Texas which services for developmental disabilities are not an

entitlement.

Not all states offer programs like CA's regional centers. I know of someone who

moved from Texas to California just to be able to use the program.

If the family has Medicaid insurance a child over the age of 4 can receive

diapers. Also every Regional Office is different due to the funding sources and

availability.

I found out that our Regional Office does not offer diapers and you have to get

them through Medicaid !

I have a letter of medical necessity for pull-ups and my son is age 7 years. In

GA, I have been very unsuccessful at getting anyone to cover these. It just

ain't happening.

Thanks for the lonk, but just to let you know, I called them thsi morning and I

got the same 'ol song from them as well.

They said, once transferred to the enrollment team, " We have no contract with

Georgia to bill GA medicaid. "

Georgia just sucks and they do not take care of their children with special

needs. GA does NOT cover pull-ups, diapers, incontinence items; they do not

cover much else either.

If I could move, I would in a heartbeat; this is a LOUSY state.

Not in Georgia. Did I mention that GA is a LOUSY state for services? LOL

He is eligible for the waiver program, which pays ONLY for respite, BUT he is on

the wait list.

Did I mention Georgia is a LOUSY state??? I do NOT recommend moving here. I did

hear NY was good, though. But I do not want to live there. I would move either

to Ohio or Florida (if I could). Not sure what their services are like, but the

Planning List Administrator told me ANY STATE is better than Georgia. This is

sad and NOT a state I am proud to live in at all.

I pick them up at Fred's, less than a mile around the corner. $8 a pack.

Mediciad won't cover ANY pull-ups or diapers in the state of GA. My kids are on

Medicaid already; it is not going to happen. But thanks for trying.

Yes, I would like more information. I have called Easter Seals in central and

North GA before (many times) and they always say, " We do not have any funding

right now. " Could it be the time of year I am calling? E-mail me please:

Thanks
