Dan, really! You may not know that quilting is considered a gift to the world from America. It is a true art n museums have collections. Right here in my village there is a weekly quilting bee n exhibits galore.

It came out of thrift and necessity wh acquiring cloth of any kind was hard in the early days n so women turned the need for warmth into an artform with lovely geometric patterns. Making one by hand requires cutting matching pieces n an infinite number of stitches.

My house goes back at its center to the late 1700's n many generations have lived here. I found 2 old quilts in the attic n u can pick out the cheap ginghams of worn out dresses scattered to make stars/flowers etc. They are treasures. Think of the love, heartache, and pride that went into the many hours of creating them.

A machine does not put soul into its products; only things handmade have that. I think of all the cheap plastic toys so soon discarded. But I still have a small wooden wagon w/wooden colored blocks that was given to my son 55 yrs ago. The gr-grands pull it out ev visit.......

Americana at its best.

Sure it's a girl thing but I gather u are fond of old cars - just a heap of rusting metal?

We ladies demand an apology!
