Hi Sandy,

It may be teeth growing in or a tooth that has been broken off that you may

not be recognizing. One of the problems that many MDS children have is

there isn't enough room in the mouth for all the teeth, so not all of them

may be growing in as normal. My son had had an eye tooth that was perfectly

flat, which had apparently sawed off at some point. When it finally fell

out when he was nine, he could finally eat crunchy foods, which he had never

wanted to try.

My suggestion is to have him checked out by a dentist first. In the

meantime, have a clean, wet washcloth that you put in the freezer for 5 to

10 minutes, and then give it to her to chew on.

Sensory issues do come up, of course, but I don't think that's the first

place to start.
