Guest guest
Jena, Have you told your doc that you feel you have Fibro? Has he done the examination on you to check trigger points? When he does the exam, be sure and remind him that not ALL of the trigger points are tender at the same time, and he needs to exam you each time you come in and make note of which ones were tender at the time of each exam. Here is a check list: Fibromyalgia Symptoms -- Official Criteria The official American College of Rheumatology criteria for fibromyalgia include: ____ Widespread pain for at least 3 months. Pain should be on both the left side of the body and the right side, and pain both above and below the waist. Cervical spine, anterior chest, thoracic spine or low back pain must also be present. Plus, pain in at least 11 of 18 specific tender point sites, which include: ____ The area where the neck muscles attach to the base of the skull, left and right sides (Occiput) ____ Midway between neck and shoulder, left and right sides (Trapezius) ____ Muscles over left and right upper inner shoulder blade, left and right sides (Supraspinatus) ____ 2 centimeters below side bone at elbow of left and right arms (Lateral epicondyle) ____ Left and right upper outer buttocks (Gluteal) ____ Left and right hip bones (Greater trochanter) ____ Just above left and right knees on inside ____ Lower neck in front, left and right sides (Low cervical) ____ Edge of upper breast bone, left and right sides (Second rib) OTHER SYMPTOMS ____ Muscle, joint pain, stiffness, burning, soreness, spasms, cramps ____ Carpal tunnel syndrome-like pains ____ Painful menstrual periods ____ Headaches ____ Fatigue, extreme exhaustion ____ Sleep Disturbances ____ Shortness of breath ____ Sore throat (known as pharyngitis) ____ Brain fog - general difficulty concentrating ____ Impaired attention span ____ Confusion with memory, words, numbers, math, etc. ____ Mood swings, anxiety, depression, panic attacks ____ Numbness or tingling sensations ____ Sensitivity to temperature changes ____ Chemical sensitivities, allergies ____ Allergies and or sensitivities - to pollen, foods, molds ____ Sensitivity to medicines ____ Sensitivity or intolerance to alcohol ____ Eye/vision problems ____ Constipation or diarrhea ____ Nausea, indigestion, stomach problems ____ Hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, " fibroglycemia " ____ Dizziness ____ Low blood pressure ____ Recurrent low-grade fever ____ Heart palpitations, skipped heartbeats ____ More frequent infections ____ Weight changes -- gain or loss, not associated with change in eating habits I got this list from this website http://thyroid.about.com/cs/fibromyalgiacfs/a/checklist.htm Print this off and take it to your doc when you go next time. Also keep a log on what days each symptom was present. Just FYI for him. Keep in mind that our symptoms of Fibro wax and wane, some you might have all the time, others you may have the symptom for a week and then it not be present again for several weeks or months. Like the headaches, I use to get horrible migraines. I got them for several years, then all the sudden they left me and I haven't had one in gosh, 2 yrs or so. Allergies is another really bad one for me. I never in my life had allergies until Oct of 2000. All the sudden I got allergies, when I tested, I was positive for everything except dogs and cats. I mean everything. Mold, dust, tree and grass pollens were the worst ones for me. For 4 yrs, my allergies were so severe that back in the summer of 2003, I had visited the ER 5 times within 4 months, saw my allergy specialist, my PCP, was on Steroids, Alegra, Benedryl, Zyrtec, nose sprays and nothing helped me at all. NOTHING, not even the steroids. They were so bad that I told my allergy specialist that I could see why someone with severe allergies like this could commit suicide just to end it. In 2004, they weren't bad at all and now for the past 2 yrs, I've only had to take benedryl every once in a while. I use to vomit everyday with the allergies, it was so horrible. You get the idea here. lol There are many other symptoms I could tell you about that have done kind of the same thing here. You just never know what it's going to do. Hope this helps some. Love ya! Hugs, Tommie I got my conformation yesterday My massager had been shipped yesterday, I saw the massager you were talking about at Wal-Greens here. and thought now that is what I need with HEAT. Mom, I have not been diagnosis by a Dr with fibro. but my aunt that was diagnosis about 10 years ago has diagnosis me with it. and speaking on legs. She and I were talking last night how bad our hips and legs were hurting. In fact since that end of last May when I hurt my back I have been going steady downhill. I plan on calling my Dr for answers or a referral for answers. he is keeping my pain bearable once I get on top of it. But I want to know where it is coming from.
