Guest guest
Hello my name is " J " and my husband and I are seeking info/support in advocating for my 32 yr old sister-in-law. My in-laws were never given a formal diagnosis (possibly due to a bit of denial?) and she struggled through life undiagnosed and without support of a community that I believe would bring a much needed support system to my in-laws. She and her husband are living at home with her parents (my in-laws) she is pregnant with her second child. She has issues with habitual lying and for the past year and a half, been faking symptoms i.e. stroke, partial paralysis. seizures, for attention and I believe as a response to stress since the birth of her daughter. I have recently read that MDS can involve epilepsy, but when her episodes correlate with confrontation, boredom, and only ever happen only in the presence of her husband, all tests come back negative, and the on again/off again limping and slurred speech, we are quite sure she doesn't have epilepsy. She had a recent EEG? sleep deprivation 2 hr test, videoed which came back normal. She wants a second opinion:) We are desperate to have her get help. She has not been herself since her first pregnancy as far as interaction and level of joy. She is so obviously acting out, poor thing probably feels so lost, she has never been told any truth to her make-up. Anyway, I would love to learn more, and am specifically looking how to get her connected to a Dr that could formally diagnose to her as an adult. I feel we are at a stand still till that happens. Thank you J
