Yesterday my mom was still in an angry mood and complaining about everything

at the NH, but also seemed more confused. I talked to a couple of the

aides, because I was seeing that her case of Diet Cokes was going down but

she said she never had any - which I knew wasn't true because every time

we're there she has the empties in her room, and is drinking one. She also

said that they won't let her have coffee. Anyway...I talked to a couple of

aides and they told me that she drinks about 3-4 DCs every day (down from

the case per day she drank at home - all that aspartame, ugh!), and that she

gets a cup of coffee with every meal; in fact, she'd just had one of each

with her supper, 15 minutes earlier. But they also told me that she had

gone down to the day room (those who can eat by themselves eat in the dining

room; those who need to be fed or are disruptive eat in the day room)

looking for her supper, and couldn't find the dining room.

I noticed increased confusion also, in addition to the changes of the day

before about which I've already written, so I asked them to check for a UTI.

She seems to get them every other month. The nurse on duty last night, whom

I'd not yet met, wasn't as receptive as the others to my observations and

suggestion, hopefully she was just having a bad day, which happens of

course, and which I can understand...but I would bet dollars to donuts

that's what's going on. And I saw in one of Lin's post that the head

dropping also can be a sign of an infection.

Anyway, I'm kind of anxious to see how she's doing tonight.

His,

Sherry
