Guest guest
My son started taking Creon just before Thanksgiving. I'm a bit concerned about the potential for it to harm his already inflammed intestinal track. Any comments or experience with this? He has demonstrated signs of pancreatic insufficiency since the age of three weeks. He has been sweat tested for CF three times and finally some genetic testing did show he is a carrier for the deltaF508 mutation, the most common mutation, but we were told that makes him a carrier and while it is possible he has some other rare mutation he probably isn't " sick enough " to have cf, possibly just a somewhat symptomatic carrier. (chronic cough and pneuomonia 3 times a year isn't sick enough?!) We've always wanted pancreatic enzymes but none of his docs would prescribe them- didn't think he needed them and our DAN! doc said that with kids with leaky guts a pancreatic enzyme like Creon could blow a hole right through his intestines and make things worse. REcently we consulted a new DAN! doctor who dismissed this concern and prescribed it. We are seeing great improvement in energy, mood, cognitive ability, cooperation... Another question I have: Can he take Vira stop along with Creon? Thanks! in Indiana
Guest guest
The Creon enzyme was a bit of a miracle for us. We saw all of the things you described below and a language burst as well. We have not had any negative effects (knock wood) and have been on it for a year exactly now. Our Pedi GI, Tim Buie, prescribed it for us. Our DAN! Doc agreed. We had been on the GF/CF & soy-free diet awhile when it was first prescribed, as well as the Omega 3s and probiotics and carnitine. We have since gradually added other supps, along with the B12 shots, while maintaining the ones mentioned above. My son seems to be healing; he has solid bm's and potty trained within a month of adding the enzymes. So positive experience for us overall. Hope this helps. I don't know about the Vira.
