maybe we should all call a halt to all this talk of what "we must do" and realize as long as fear calls the shots, nothing will change.

Individually we can do the best we can to sow harmony instead of discord....we haven't done that even in our families, our communities and our nation...we cannot really imagine we can take on the world quite yet , can we?

Dear Toni - yr pessimism is shared by many. Including me, as u know wh I sighed

What can one person do? n I heard him say, 'That's the whole point! It can only be done 1x1x1...."

But, u remind me of a story: Two men are waling on a beach n see five stranded starfish in the sand. One of them picks up a starfish n throws it back in the water.

"What good is that going to do? They're all going to dry anyway."

"One less," replied the other.

Then together they rescued the others.

From the Buddhist's perspective, the bodhisattva's vow is to be compassionate thru as many lifetimes as it takes until the last one of us finds liberation. Being cynical under the umbrella of being realistic probably is not the best way to go about this. I truly believe most of us on J-F are here bec we are trying our best to learn more n to apply some of the psychological wisdom Jung has offered us. He himself persisted when so many ridiculed n rejected him n he also suffered pessimistic moments.

The sun shines n it didn't have to. A great YES has to come before a no sounds.
