Guest guest
Hello everybody..... It's been a while since I've posted. I've been having excruciating upper neck pain. My FNP prescribed Flexeril and it worked for 2 1/2 weeks and then I plateau'd. From reading up on it -- it's only supposed to work effectively for 2-3 weeks. I went back to see my FNP because my Dr is on-call all week long at the hospital. She changed my meds to Robaxin -- has anyone been on this? How has it worked for you? I also take percocet. The muscules all the way at the top of my neck are so tight right now that I get horrible headaches at around 3 every afternoon. My physical therapist says the headaches should subside as soon as my neck gets better. The " almost " car accident I was in back in November brought on all this for the most part... although truth be told I've always had this kind of neck pain and headaches. Someone asked if I'd been evaluated for Chiari and no I've not. I finally got an appointment with Dr. in Portland at the beginning of April. I have mixed feelings about seeing him as I have not had much luck with specialists outside of Boston etc. We shall see. Who else has neck pain along with lower back pain stemming from TSC? Can you share? Thanks. Otherwise hoping all is well with everyone. Spring is almost here! Don't forget to turn your clock's back on the 11th. Guest guest
Oh, . I'm sorry. I had a car accident in 2004 that has done this to me, and I really am sorry to see someone else having neck pain like this. I take Robaxin. Waste of time. My doc just prescribed Skelaxin, which hopefully will help. Robaxin is pretty mild, I think. Flexeril messes with your mind more than most muscle relaxants, at least from what I recall. It definitely made me loopy enough. I get regular massage therapy and I can take Robaxin and my therapist can't even tell I've taken a muscle relaxant. It sure doesn't help with the pain. I've always had very stiff neck muscles, but never this burning pain that I have now. I was eval'ed for chiari in 2000, I think. I don't have it (thank goodness). I have been offered botox injections to loosen my neck muscles. So far, I've declined. I think there has to be an underlying reason for my neck muscles to be so tight, and I don't think relaxing them with botox will do anything to help with whatever is causing this. I hope robaxin works for you. It didn't for me, but everyone is different. --- Maher wrote: > Hello everybody..... > > It's been a while since I've posted. Guest guest
--- Hi ,I also have neck pain headaches about three times or more a times week and dizziness. I really thought I had Chari, because I have almost every symptom but I was told I dont. What I do have along with TC is congential cervical stenosis with strightening of cervical spine. My NS says that this is causing my neck pain and headaches. I did have a car accident when I was 17 yrs old, but he cant tell if its congential or from the accident. What I believe is if someone has a deformity of their lower/upper spine the entire spine eventually gets hit with something too. Isnt that a great thought/ LOL.. tetheredspinalcord , Weaver wrote: > > Oh, . I'm sorry. Guest guest
Hello .. The Robaxin does not seem to be working at all. If anything it makes me dizzy for a few minutes after taking it and then things subside a bit not not ever enough. I was prescribed Skelaxin two years ago after the first real minor accident I was in for back spasms etc. It worked. Now it does nothing. The flexeril worked for as I said the first two weeks... did make me feel overly drugged though (as you mentioned) so I wonder now what else there may be or what is the next course of action (besides PT) My friend is a Cranial Sacral Therapist and this has helped a lot in the past. She works with me. So there is that option. I have a referral to see the pain consultant again -- hmm... not sure what to do about that as I don't want it interferring with the PT right now. All these things and factors to consider. Oy it makes me so tired. I have the next two days off and PT/Massage tomorrow. I'm going to call and talk to the nurse practionner about the Robaxin. Guess that is my next, next step. Thank you all for hearing me out. Hope you feel better .
