Dear Laurie, I'm very sorry about the loss of your mom, my sympathy and

condolences are with you during what must be a very difficult time.

Hugs,

H.

Death in the Family

Hi all,

I just wanted to share with you, my cyberspace companions, that my

dear mother recently passed away...and that the many suggestions and

references we'd collectively discussed here on IPADD almost a year

ago have helped us support our daughter through this process

IMMENSELY! I'm not fooling myself that she's done grieving (it's

been less than two weeks) or that she will not go through the

typical stages of grief that we all go through in time. But I

wanted you all to know that I DO appreciate every strategy and every

resource you all shared. It was a great way to form some personal

strategies that melded our beliefs with our daughter's understanding

of events. I'm grateful that we had a chance to introduce some of

these ideas to her BEFORE mom died, to help her understand.

As we approach this Thanksgiving, know how grateful I am for the

wise words everyone shared with me on this topic. I'll be counting

all of you among my blessings on Thursday! :)

Thanks,

Laurie

Dear , my condolences to you as well on the loss of your father, this

has been a rough year for me as well but it's just beginning......I'll be

turning to those posts?soon I'm afraid.

Re: Death in the Family

Dear Laurie,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My father passed October 29, and I am

wondering if you can refer me to the time of the discussions you mentioned so

I can go back and read the posts myself. I am a recent member of IPADD and

missed out on the suggestions. I had my husband bring my 24-year old ASD son

to the wake briefly (just to see some of the relations and share in the food

downstairs). He did glance at the casket at the other end of the room and

ask " Is Papa wearing any pants? " , and I reassured him he was. Tonight he said

" I miss Papa " , and we told our favorite Papa stories together. I would be

interested in knowing of any other ways I can help him (and me!) get through

this. Should I try November 2006 posts?

Withers
