Priscilla.. my wrists are too sore t'day to type much but honey -- YOU ARE

a strong person. I tried not to " whine " for so long.... " Whine " is a male

word... or something society made up or something.....

I've had periods when I cried several times a day; do you think if your

boyfriend read a few of our posts he might understand how brave you are? I

know that people Not understanding is so --disheartening? that is such a

minor word :-(

I liked where someone explained-- it's only called " arthritis " because it

hits the joints (among other things) -- it is an immune system

disease/malfunction that can destroy every joint in your body. We work for

remission and to slow it to a grinding halt. I'm saying this for something

for You to say, not to scare you. You already know these things. Because

you're young, remission and slowing it down are possible... it's just a very

" inexact " science as my rheumy says.... the first try isn't going to get it

right all the time.

I've had such bad pain that I've spent whole nights up with icey towels on

my shoulders and back almost screaming from pain... that was 2 years ago

but -- well I'm mentioning it because I hope he'll understand that " taking a

pill " ain't going to cut it. That said --- there is light at the end of

the tunnel dear! I will pray that you'll see some soon.

Carla,

Until about 6 weeks ago, I felt bad because of the pain you all

felt, and though I hurt, and hurt like crazy, it was nothing like

what some of you go through on a daily basis. My first " serious "

flare started right before I began a new job, and I so completely

understand what these autoimmune diseases are, and what I have to

look forward to. I also understand how no one who does not have

this could even FATHOM what it is like.

I no longer tell people that I am tired when I have the bone-numbing

fatigue that I've had for the past two years. I don't even

use " exhausted " . I now tell them that I am sick. It seems to make

more of an impact, and they back off instead of telling me to just

get up and work it off.
