Alice (and/or anyone else who'd like to pipe up on this one), what is the history of this term? Is it your coinage? Does it refer to some aspect of Jung's writings?------------------------------------

Yes, it is my definition! Reason being 2-fold - Jung's word Self gives selfish connotations to average folk n secondly, my clients n readers come fr various religious traditions, all of which have different terms for the "Christ Within", atman, etc. n as Jung defined the Self as the venter n totality of the psyche, he meant that which gives us life n connects us to Spirit.

I am delighted that DG is catching on n turning up in various places. That centerpt in the mandala has by def no dimension n so connects us to that wh is beyond time/space. Makes sense!

Somebody once wrote me why not Div Host? Bec the DG dwells in the unc n waits for our invitation..........

prayer n meditation are forms of invitation n any poet or artist knows that in-spiration comes fr inviting the indefinable Source.

If u anthropomorphize the DG n u are in a negative, self-accusatory, mea culpa, mea culpa state., u cn imagine him looking down n saying "Looks mighty gloomy own there, might try again in a few weeks!" But as the Chinese put it:

If u keep a flowering branch in yr heart, surely the singing bird will ome!

Sharing 'the poached egg' w/yr DG = enabling the DG to enjoy the good thru our consciousness. The Jewish mystics say that wh u say grace you release the sparks hidden in the food or in anything. The same is true of Sophia who [symbolically] is said to be hiding in matter as drops of light. This is the whole idea of 'finding the sacred in the commonplace! You look w/the eyes n see w/the heart, as the alchemist Petrus Bonus advised. When u play this game, it's like the world turns fr black/white to colors.

Mebbe this is why JC said that we have to be as little children to enter the kingdom of heaven.

We need desperately to discover the joy of wisdom n the wisdom of joy.

Art Buchwald is a case in point. Lest u label me some nutty Pollyanna, just know that I, too, have suffered deeply most of my life - karma 101 - but wh I really began to study Jung, I found that he was right - wh u change yr consciousness , the outer circumstances change as well.

Hope this helps clarify, Marte

love
