Guest guest
Oh ! , I have had thrush but not all the way down my esophagus, you poor girl. I hope things get better for you soon. The doctor gave me a prescription rinse you swish around in your mouth and then swallow it. You only use a tiny bitat a time. May I suggest ( you probably already know ) get a new toothbrush also. Good luck, hoping for speedy healing for you, in MO ____________________________________________________ Start your day with - make it your home page http://www./r/hs

Guest guest
, Are you still on Prednisone? Steroids also are a major culprit. I've never had thrush, but I used to get vaginal yeast infections every time I took antibiotics until I found out about acidophilus, which is the good bacteria that is found in yogurt or sold as supplements. Now I know to take it if I'm on antibiotics. Here is a good article from CNN on oral thrush: http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/DS/00408.html I hope it clears up quickly. I'm sure it is quite painful. a On Aug 16, 2005, at 12:29 AM, tandarat wrote: > Last Tuesday I had a steroid injection to ease some of my joint > pain, and Wednesday I had a sore throat. Thursday morning I > realized I had thrush, and by Thursday afternoon it had travelled > all the way down my esophagus. Felt like I had swallowed a brick. > The anti-fungal lozenges are helping, but I still have a stubborn > patch on my tongue. > > Lucky me. Doc said that unless I already had an infection, the > steroids would not have caused this. I did a little research, and > it looks like long-term, high dose anti-biotics, AIDS, diabetes, and > lupus are the main culprits. Well, I'm not on antibiotics, and I > don't have AIDS or diabetes, so that leaves one thing. Since I've > suspected lupus for awhile, now, and my new rheumy seems to be going > in that direction, as well, this is just one more piece of the > puzzle, albeit an annoying one. I'm also becoming more sensitive to > the sun - it now causes nausea and severe fatigue and joint pain if > I am out in it for more than about five minutes. It used to just > trigger migraines. I kind of wish I could have the migraines > back . I also had to over-do it this past weekend, and I'm paying > for it today, let me tell you. > > I have another week and a half to go before my next rheumy > appointment, and he doesn't like to give out the test results until > he can meet with you to explain them. I already know most of them, > so I don't know what the big deal is, but them's the rules. I guess > it won't kill me to wait, but I don't have much patience anymore. > > So, have any of you had the pleasure of growing a yogurt factory in > your esophagus? Boy, was that an experience I'd rather not repeat. > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
a, I am on 5 mg a day, which the doctor said is the equivalent of what your body makes, so that probably is not the problem. He said that if I had an existing infection, the steroid shot I got last week may have exacerbated the problem, but I don't think I had anything before that. Who knows. > > > Last Tuesday I had a steroid injection to ease some of my joint > > pain, and Wednesday I had a sore throat. Thursday morning I > > realized I had thrush, and by Thursday afternoon it had travelled > > all the way down my esophagus. Felt like I had swallowed a brick. > > The anti-fungal lozenges are helping, but I still have a stubborn > > patch on my tongue. > > > > Lucky me. Doc said that unless I already had an infection, the > > steroids would not have caused this. I did a little research, and > > it looks like long-term, high dose anti-biotics, AIDS, diabetes, and > > lupus are the main culprits. Well, I'm not on antibiotics, and I > > don't have AIDS or diabetes, so that leaves one thing. Since I've > > suspected lupus for awhile, now, and my new rheumy seems to be going > > in that direction, as well, this is just one more piece of the > > puzzle, albeit an annoying one. I'm also becoming more sensitive to > > the sun - it now causes nausea and severe fatigue and joint pain if > > I am out in it for more than about five minutes. It used to just > > trigger migraines. I kind of wish I could have the migraines > > back . I also had to over-do it this past weekend, and I'm paying > > for it today, let me tell you. > > > > I have another week and a half to go before my next rheumy > > appointment, and he doesn't like to give out the test results until > > he can meet with you to explain them. I already know most of them, > > so I don't know what the big deal is, but them's the rules. I guess > > it won't kill me to wait, but I don't have much patience anymore. > > > > So, have any of you had the pleasure of growing a yogurt factory in > > your esophagus? Boy, was that an experience I'd rather not repeat. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
, I hope that you are feeling better. I have never had thrush before, but it sounds terrible. I remember my daughter had it one time when she had been on alot of antibiotics.
