Wh I was 13 I had the following intuitions: (I was going thru hell at the time in an American boarding school) -

1. The idea of placing hell under the surface of the earth was an insult!

2. Hell/heaven were right here in the world we live in. I also had just learned the first news of torturing n humiliating Jews in history and seen the first newsreels of soldiers actually killing other people in Manchuria! It tore apart my limited understanding of physical cruelty.

Today, 70 yrs later, I have not changed my opinion. The Inferno seems to be acted out in many ways and 'heaven is still spread upon the earth n men do not see it,' as Jesus says in the Gnostic Gospel acc to , is all too clear to me whenever I step out my door.
