I have a dilemma i need your thoughts on. Chas, my 18 y.o. has migraines, which are fairly frequent. Her dad quit his job which had excellent medical coverage to go back to driving a truck. The stuff her doc prescribed is 25.00 a pill. We have no medical insurance on her, she is going to college next month, and we make barely too much to qualify for assistance. I am afraid that the adjustment to college will probably trigger more migraines. She has just been getting samples from our doc but she will be 3 hours away now. Does anyone know of a program for kids in this sort of " gray area " between childhood and adulthood? Her dad is no help when it comes to things of this sort. We live in Texas btw....Imitrex has been very effective on her h/a's. She had one when i got home last night, she was on the couch with a blanket and pillow over her head to block out the light. ( Love yall bunches. jane Jane, You could try CHIP (childrens health care partnership) I believe they will cover her until her 19th birthday. Beyond that...check into medical coverage for students. If her med is that expensive she may qualify for patient assistance through the drug manufacturer. _Welcome to the TexCare Partnership Web Site!_ (http://texcarepartnership.com/) I am also in Texas as well. Also check to see if she can get a self insured policy with the local HMO type hospital like and white medical center...this of course would depend on where she is going to school. good luck Toni
