Hi,I understand your dilemma, and encourage you to speak to your

doctor about programs that pharmecutical companies have for those who

fall into the " gray " area . They can give you medications at a much

lower cost or sometimes free. Your doctor should know of those

programs, all it takes is the doctor filling out forms the company

sends and then you can get the medications. I feel for you and your

daughter. I also suffered from migraines, and so did my own daughter,

and she still does. I just have the visual migraines mostly now. Hope

this helps. I have a list I will try to find of some of these

companies that do this. I think you can find some online. I hope this

is a good day for you and her :)

Would she be able to apply for patient assistance with this? Does the

college have a clinic on campus where she could get samples?

I took Inderol for years to try to prevent my migraines. It didn't seem

to help mine, but I was afraid to stop for fear that they would be even

worse than they were. It apparently does help some people. Sue

You

may want to try that. My daughter is on it now, as she is just like her

Momma, who used to suffer horribly with migraines (and it did, indeed, get

worse

in college!).

Best of luck!

Jane,

Hey. I am so sorry to hear she has to deal with migraines!! I too

suffer and actually just had to miss a day of work Monday because I

had

a round that lasted two days (normally I can control them better than

this). I agree with Terri on the school clinic idea or others that

have suggested going directly to the pharmaceutical companies to see

if

they have assistance programs. As it happens, there are only two

medicines that work on my migraines and Immitrex is not one of them.

That being said, I went through the cycle of trying to find the right

medicine recently and have some of the Immitrex (unused and sealed)

that I could send to y'all. It is the nasal spray not the pill

though. I completely understand if you think this is too strange of

an

offer from someone you don't know but I just thought I would offer

because I have some that will go unused and know the pain of a

migraine

personally. You are welcome to contact me offline directly at my

email catherine_groen@... if you like.

The nice thing about most of the migraine medicine is once you learn

to

recognize the onset of the headaches, if you take the medicine early

on

it only takes one pill to knock them out completely, at least that is

my experience and I've heard that from other friends that suffer also.

Best of luck to you and your daughter (both with college and the

migraines:)).

Cat in Atlanta, GA

p.s. the other thing that really helps me aside from medicine, a

completely dark room and lying in bed is an ice pack. Before I found

a

medicine that worked I would put a sports ice pack (one of those soft

gel reusable kinds) on my temple and neck. Usually it would

eventually

numb the pain long enough for me to fall asleep.

thanks for your response, please excuse my taking forever to

respond. Tawny mailed me the links to some pharm. companies,

anything you might come up with would be greatly appreciated too.

Along with green eyes, i managed to pass along the migraines and

asthma to all my darlin' daughters. I get the visual migraines too,

are they not weird? Like looking through a kaleidoscope is the only

way I can describe it.
