Guest guest
Sharon, she just had the second one done two weeks ago, but she is very happy she had the first one done. If your surgeon has been doing them for 8 years he must be good at doing replacements. I was supposed to get mine done but that is on the back burner due to other problems with that leg. I believe everyone knows when they are ready to take this step (pardon the pun) and it sounds like you are there now. Keep us informed. Hugs June ----- Original Message ----- From: sharonmacd So, June, What did your friend have to say about her ankle replacement? How is she doing now? I've been back to the surgeon, at my rheumy's somewhat forceful insistence, and it seems I don't have as much time as I'd hoped. He said he's been doing replacements for 8 years and hasn't had to do any replacements of his replacements. It's become clear to me that my problem is that while my ankle is mostly fused, it's in a terrible position, so I'm walking just on the outer part of my foot--so I'm getting foot cramps and pain all around the ankle and knee. Guess time is near. The surgeon is suggesting doing a operation just to align the ankle, and then afterwards we go on from there...either a replacement or decide if the natural fusion and surgical straightening is enough. Sharon > I forgot to mention one important piece of information. One of our PP's had an ankle replacement just a few months ago, done by one of the " top " specialists (notice how everyone's doc is the top LOL) and she is very disappointed in the results. I will talking to her early next week and try to find out specifically what she is unhappy about. I do know she was still having a ,lot of pain, 3mos post-op. In the meantime I will spray with 024 and wait and hobble with you. > > Hugs > June > ---------- > > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. > Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.9.5 - Release Date: 4/7/2005 > > >
