The end of April of 2003 I was awakened a couple times during the night with

pains in my fingers and diarrhea. I saw my GP the next day, he did bloodwork and

called to say he thought I had RA. I am now on my 3rd Remey, on Humira weekly,

Methotrexate 15MG weekly for the RA.My first Remey ignored my diarrhea, the 2nd

did hundred of dollars of tests, looking for parasites, staff, yeast etc. For a

year nothing improved my symptoms, it just got worse. My OB/GYN recommended a

Gastro dr. He couldn't quite believe that I had diarrhea and loose bowels up to

15 times in a 24 hour period. It took 2 months to have a colonoscopy, I remember

him coming out and saying he found NOTHING WRONG, should have another in 10

years, however he had done some biopsies and if anything came of those I would

get a call. I have Colleageous Colitis as well as RA and a thyroid auto immune

problem, seems like they all began over a 24 hour period.

The biopsies showed my colon does not absorb the water from the stool. There is

only 2 jobs the colon has, a storage facility for feces and it is suppose to

absorb all the liquid from the stool. That was why I had diarrhea for over a

year. The only thing that helped was a steroid, which I was put on for RA.

Because of that biopsy's were done for Collegeous colitis because Pred made it

go away. Another auto immune problem that responds to Pred.

I now take 12 Asacol's daily. 4 3X's daily. It has kept me under control as far

as the Colitis goes. Just to let you guys know other auto immune diseases can

happen to you and it takes a while to figure it all out.
