Guest guest
and by reality, I don't mean forgetting what happened, but making stuff up. A few weeks ago, my brother and boyfriend were visiting nada, and she told a story of the time she and my sister were driving down the freeway in the rain and her windsheild wiper came off and she had to roll down the window to get it from the side view mirror. The thing is, this story happened to me. it was my sister and I, driving my giant green car a few years ago, and has become one of those family stories that get's told at gatherings. I told mom, Umm...I think that was me that happened to. She insists that she's had problems with those windshield wipers (I've never heard her complain) and that the story happened to her on another occasion. I let it go at the time, but it didn't feel right. I talked to my sister, and she has no memory of this event with mom, only with me. It gave me a seriously creepy feeling. Either nada got mixed up and embarrased about it and decided to stick with the lie, OR, she has actually co-opted a story of mine. she has always had memory problems, but it's possible she's getting to the point where she actually does not know where the line between self and others is. This scares the hell out of me. This isn't just " gee, my mom is nuts " it's Mom doens't know what happened to her and what didn't. anyone else have this happen?
