Guest guest
Okay, I was convinced it was going to be either the Keppra or Macrobid that was causing my allergy. I took my " morning " meds (i do noon and midnight b/c I'm not a morning person). When I took them this afternoon, around 2p, No reaction. Not in the slightest. And Benadryl only lasts about 6 hrs max. So that should have worn off. Then, as I started checking my email around 8:30 or 9p, the itching is slowly starting again. I can feel it ramping up and I'll be back to the Benadryl again before long (childrens grape thin strips! yum -- and what an easy way to take them! LOL). Anyway, now I'm not so sure it is a med. But I have racked my brains to think of anything new in the house. Grrr, this stuff always happens to me on the weekend. I'm hoping that the Benadryl can carry me through the weekend until I can call my MD on Monday. Particularly since I HATE the ERs here. The one close to my house is worthless (they couldn't' even Dx my dislocated hip. They said b/c the x-ray was normal, that my hip was okay. They totally ignored the external rotation and difference in leg lengths. So, I don't trust them for anything serious). The better ER and the one adjacent to Shepherd Center is 1) farther -- about 24 miles and 2) is always so very busy and you can wait hours and hours. I sat in the waiting room with IV bag on my shoulder after the ambulance brought me in with my PEs (including a saddle emboli among them that should have killed me). I have seen them let a little girl with 1st and 2nd degree burns sit in the waiting room for hours -- and she had burns on her hands, legs, abdomen and close, if not on her genetialia. That is considered a major emergency when a child is burned, and when hands, feet, face or genitals are involved it is even more critical. I would have told her parents to take her ASAP to the children's hospital across town, but they didn't speak any english (and not spanish -- they spoke a slavic language). Well, I guess I'll eat some dinner and keep thinking about what is causing this until I'm dead asleep again on Benadryl. I'll let everyone know what I find out if/when I eventually figure it out.
