Guest guest
Hi, Phoebe - I have a friend who has run a variety of lists. She's a Quadruple Virgo (!), so I imagine that lots of Virgo-esque matters seem to her much more matter-of-course than they would to lots of people (me, for example!). I was recently corresponding with her about lists in general, partly sharing some of our experiences, partly wanting to keep up with which lists I read she still does too, and I asked her specifically about Jung Fire [the first list I ever joined]. From her Quadruple Virgo often-list-manager background, she said she doesn't currently participate here because -- in her Q.V. opinion/perspective, it is " simple " to keep spammers off a Yahoo list by means of what kind of settings you set up to screen newcomer identities. Does this translate to you (better than it does to me, because I'm simply not very good at this sort of thing)? I'm personally having a lot of trouble these days with the proliferation of what I sometimes think of kind of as the Sorceror's Apprentice aspect of the Internet (vis-a-vis privacy invasion, etc.). Is it your understanding there is a Yahoo " setting " choice that could be made for this list that would automatically screen out posts from anyone not seriously interested in Jung, Jung's works (and their legacy), Alice's background and contributions, and the fellowship of the group? I would like to be genuinely responsive to newcomers with a genuine interest in the list and of course there are certain kinds of spams I can recognise right away. But just now I'm feeling a mite " anwearied " and wishing it could be a little easier for those of us who are committed to this list to know that the posts we will be seeing here are from others who also are. If you'd like to answer me off-list, please advise. I just tried to offer you that address but it didn't show as " secure protected " , etc., so I didn't feel " safe " to do so. [Alice has my offlist e-mail address, as do several other posters.] Hope all of this isn't a nuisance for you, and Happy Lincoln's Birthday! love and greetings to all, marte
