Guest guest
That's just about right for me. Of course, in my case, it's because they are giving me a diuretic called Lasix. I'd rather keep getting up at night rather than retain the water... Walt > > >Hi, > > I have never posted before to this group, but have been reading your > posts. Guest guest
I've noticed that I now have to get up at least one time during the night (normally around 2 a.m.) and then I definitely have to get up around 7 (although I'd like to stay in bed). It's like clockwork now. That wasn't the case before. I am taking the Prednisone and ace inhibitor. No lasix.
Guest guest
Sometimes this indicates an inability to concentrate urine well. It's not a sign of kidney failure (not producting urine would be). Paradoxically, if you time it right, a small dose of the diuretic Lasix, twice a day can sometimes help solve this, because it helps produce all the urine that needs to be produced faster, and therefore earlier. Lasix's effect last about 6 hours, so one on rising in the morning, and another in late afternoon (before 6 p.m). 20 mg twice a day is often enough, and it doesn't increase urination more than you would notice. He should discuss this problem with his doctor, because everyone is different, and it certainly is not good to have to get up at all hours of the night to pee. It doesn't work for everybody, but it's worth a shot. Pierre Frequent need to urinate > > >Hi, > > I have never posted before to this group, but have been reading your > posts. Guest guest
Also, it helps to avoid drinking anything after 6 PM unless absolutely necessary. Guest guest
Hi Everyone Same here for me, except I usually have to get up at 2 am, 5.30 pm. Even when I was on medication to help me sleep, I was still awoken with the urgency need!!!! I am taking no medications for my IGAN, but I am due to see my Urologist next week for a urinary dynamic test, this is to investigate to make sure all is working properly in that area. Interestingly he has intimated to me that IGAN can be an irritant to the bladder, particularly if you have blood in your urine? What to do about it.....believe it or not advice was to drink more to keep the system flushed!!!!! Oh joy the powers of medicine.....but what about a decent night's sleep for me!!!! Best wishes Re: Re: Frequent need to urinate Also, it helps to avoid drinking anything after 6 PM unless absolutely necessary. Guest guest
Thanks for all the response!!!! I feel much better. The lassix idea may be a good one for him, although he seems to have good volume during the day too. He does drink too much liquid before bed though. Guest guest
HI, Suzanne, you mentioned the typical prednisone side effects. Do you mind expounding on that. My son is on prednisone and I'm curious what side effects your fiance is experiencing. Thanks, Pam > >Reply-To: iga-nephropathyegroups >To: iga-nephropathyegroups >Subject: Frequent need to urinate >Date: Tue, 09 Jan 2001 10:58:19 -0600 > > > >Hi, > >I have never posted before to this group, but have been reading your >posts. Guest guest
I have had this problem at times, but its hard to know why its happening. Of course the more water I drink before bed, the more often I have to get up... there was one night I drank a lot of water (at least 2 16 oz glasses of water), but I got up just about 10 times during the night (no exaggeration) and I remembered thinking " I know I drank a lot... but this is ridiculous! " .
