Sandie,

I'm so sorry that your feeling down. With a chronic disease, it's so

hard to deal with at times. I go through the same thing, and I'm sure

most do. Sometimes, anti-depressants help out very much. I take them

for awhile, and then go off them after awhile. It's just so hard to

deal with the RA.

I have a 10 yr old, and it bothers me that I can't do the things, I

would like to do. She is very understanding, and sometimes I go when

I can't hardly make it. But, we just do the best we can.

The MTX took about 6weeks for me. It has helped me a lot, so don't

give up. If your not on any pain meds, maybe you should ask the doc

to put you on something, until the MTX kicks in. I know how hard it

is, to hurt so bad.

I'm sorry about your sis. Not sure what to say, sometimes we just

have to overlook our loved ones. Your a great wife and Mom, so don't

ever think your not. It's just this RA that makes us hurt, and feel

like this. I will keep you in my prayers, and just know I'm here,

Sandie, I'm glad you posted this. I've been having those same symptoms for a

long time, but didn't know what to call it. Now I know, I have Hypochondria!

I hope it's not contageous.

A friend of ours was convinced she had RA since I had it really bad at that

time. She even filed for SS Disability for it. Then, when her medical

records were checked, she didn't have anything close. I had asked her about

blood tests and she had them all, and it was definitely RA. She finally got

her SSD, but not for RA. People can be strange...

Sandie I know how you feel I have been in constancy pain for 7 months no

relief that's why I decided to go to the center IM 64 years old so all my

children

are grown but they have been no help to me they think RA is a very

controllable disease but my husband has been great through all this. but do not

feel

like you are letting your family down because you can not do what you use to do.

they will understand my doctor told me it could take up to 3 months to see any

diffrence.but so far there has been no difference the only time I get any

relief is when I can not take anymore and I call in and tell the nurse they have

to do something for me that i can not take anymore I tell them how everything

that has a joint in inflamed swollen cant walk without assistance and then

and only then the dr. will pres. a six day graduated dose of methylprednisolone

after the first day i felt like my old self but its short lived about 2-3 days

after the pres. runs out it starts coming back in fact the pain does not

fully leave but its very livable and you will get a few days of relief. you

might

call your dr. office and ask if they can give you some. I can not begin to put

myself in your place with 3 babies my heart goes out to you. as far as your

sister goes I have one just like yours she has had so many illness and dying

from something different for years the sad thing is one day there will be

something wrong and no one will believe her its a no win situation but if you

know

she's a hypochondriac so does the rest of the family and the reason you may

feel anger is because of the pain that you are in but try not to let things

stress you out I do believe this stuff feeds off stress I take 2 Tylenol PM

every

night they let me rest other wise I just toss and turn that is if IM able to

turn. keep your chin up

Sandie,

Sorry you're having such a bad day. MTX can take up to 3 months to be

effective. Everyone is different. Some people respond sooner, and

others will take longer.

I understand how guilty you feel. I raised 2 children while having RA,

and I used to feel the same way. It's not your fault. You didn't ask

for this. Try not to be so hard on yourself. The MTX could kick in

and things could change.

On my good days, it is helpful for me to cook extra food for the

freezer. On bad days, I'm so thankful that I've got something to pull

out of the freezer. I hope the MTX kicks in soon so you can get some

relief.

Hi Sandi!

Being diagnosed with RA is tough. I have been diagnosed for about three

years. Finding the right treatment takes time. When I started

methotrexate it took maybe 6 weeks before I felt any different. But

everybody is different. Are you taking good pain meds. I take oxycocet

and it do help wonderfully for the pain. I hope this works for you.

From reading your email I can tell your totally stressed and from my

own experience I can tell you that stress is terrible on RA. If I get

stressed, I get a flare up. It is hard not to get stressed when your in

so much pain and your life is changing so much! This disease do effect

the whole family because your activity level changes. Don't feel bad

about not being able to do things, it is not your fault. However I

still go through guilty feelings, when I have to change plans at the

last minute because I am to tired or paining to much to do something.

As for your sister, well you need to let her worry about her own

problems, you have enough of your own.

I know it is easier said than done but your health has to be first to

you. I have a aunt like her...LOL She is always sick with the same

thing everybody in my family has....LOL.

RA can effect the back, The joints are the major factor but if your

joints are inflammed the areas around will be effected. Have you read

up on it much?

I have to run right now and get breakfast but if you ever need to chat

we can on msn or you can email me at corinne@...

..There are brighter days ahead....My heart goes out to you and it must

be so much tougher on you having three small children. Oh one more

question, What other meds are you on, and are you on needle or pills of

methotrexate?

Sandie,

I just read your post this morning, sorry I am late in replying! I

don't have RA, but do have MS, FM, and Dercum's, so understand the pain

and feeling of helplessness. Whatever you feel, you are NOT, repeat

NOT a failure!! Your husband and kids will understand, and you won't

always feel as bad as you do right now. You will always be a loved and

vital part of their life, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Frustration is one of the biggest pains.

God bless,

Judi

Sandie,

I am so sorry for all that you are going through. It

does sometimes take a couple of months for the MTX to

take effect. Even after it started to help I still

hurt but not like I did before I started taking the

MTX. Morning was the worst for me. I am still taking

MTX plus the Enbrel. Just keep telling yourself that

it will get better. And we are all here for you. It

sounds like your sister just wants attention. You are

in my prayers.

Sorry for the misery you are in. I think it's harder for us to

accept as women being the nurturing kind that it is hard to recieve

help even when we desperatly need it. I hear what your saying

because I've been experiancing the frustration of being a burden

also. We really shouldn't feel quilty about something out of our

control. I am just starting to slow down the stress of it all and

it is helping. I hope you can get some help with the little ones to

concentrate on getting you better.
