I was wondering if Methotrexate is safe on a long term basis, if the

lab work is normal? I've been on it awhile, and it does seem to be

helping quite a bit.

I know I have been on it for about 2 years now and my lab shows some

liver problems. Has since the begining of treatment. As long as

there have been no drastic changes and the liver biopsies are ok, he

keeps me on it. I just switched a few months ago to injectable, boy

what a difference!!! Marina

I was on it before, and my liver enzymes were high, so I was taken off

of it for awhile. This time, I've been on it about a year, and I feel

it's working alright. I've heard the injections are better. I hope

that it continues to work for you, and everything stays normal. T

PS:Thanks for your prayers, they truly work:)

Hello, my name is Missy and my daughter, is 6 and has JRA. She takes MTX

and her liver enzymes are sometimes elevated. To remedy the increase they lower

her dosage for about a month. Until recently that was okay, but she's having a

bad flare right now and they increased her dose to .5 cc every week. (that's

like 12.5 mg I think). There would be no way to decrease her mtx right now or

she'd end up in the hosp again. So, if your enzymes get too elevated they can

lower the dose or skip a week sometimes. But, I would ask what the normal range

is and how elevated yours is compared to that normal range. If it's not overly

high, I wouldn't lower the doses. You wouldn't want to cause a flare up or

anything. Good luck!

Hello,

I was diagnosed with R.A. in 2002 and I have been giving myself

Methotrexate Injections since 2003. Just recently my liver functions

have been slightly elevated. My doctor says it is a normal reaction and

my levels are not critical in anyway.

So my 1st question is: Has anyone that has taken Methotrexate had any

liver problems and if yes what was the course of action taken

2nd Question: If you have had liver problems did you consider or try a

natual liver flush??

Thank You So Much!!
