Guest guest
Well my friends...yesterday I went to another Disability doctor to go over my sciatica, arthritis, knee replacement and neck pain. I am going to say something that I usually never say....that doctor was a quack....I went there to be evaluated, not tortured. This physician and I use the term loosely, measured my angles, and twisted my bad side around and smacked my replaced knee/lower leg with one of those nerve hammers....he hurt me. I could not walk on Wednesday, I can hardly move and walk today.. my Physical therapist was so sympathetic, but she cannot work on my back, as it is not in my RX. I cannot believe I was treated this way..the physician acted as if I was goldbricking and treated me like less than a human...he did not even look at me...my Mother went with me, for moral support and I am glad she did, as I now have a witness...I was in tears and told him, " Please don't do that " , " I can't move that way " as he yanks my arms above my head...I cannot hold my arms above my head, even when I was not so sore, I have such kyphosis in my shoulders, that it is really difficult. I even called my Social Security case worker and complained ... I also found an attorney if I get declined for benefits...he is a local man and has over 25 years of experience and does nothing but SS Disability and Worker's Compensation claims. On the flip side, SS sent me for x-rays of my lower back...well crap, sciatica is usually a soft tissue injury and won't show up on an x-ray...so it will be interesting to see what they discover. I requested that a copy of my records me sent to my orthopedist, Dr. Poole, so we will see what he says. I see him on the 25th of March. Has anyone else been treated like bedroom lint by the physician that does their exam, or is it just my luck of the draw? Love and hugs...currently on 2 10/325 Norco to make me comfortable this evening...good thing I have pain medication from my knee replacement, or I would really be in trouble. Hugs...Martha Really grumpy at this physician..and sorer than I should be after an exam
Guest guest
Oh yeah! This is the one that still sticks in my craw. It's the reason perfectly eligible patients are denied disability when they desperately need it. Mine was in an effort to figure out what " The Beast " was. I was to have a neurologist check it out and I had placed hope on top of hope that this time we'd find out. This quack...this idiot....this complete, uncaring piece of & **($ did a neuro exam I could do in my sleep. He probably didn't know that. That I have done plenty of Neuro exams. Fun to watch when they think they're pulling a fast one over on the patient. He made me strip down with just a gown, he ran his finger down my back, banged on my knee with his little hammer....and turned and started out the door without saying a word. I said " Wait...what is it? "  He just says, without turning around, " Daily stressors " . That was my all powerful neuro exam. I rested a ton of hope on this to try to find out why I had to live in hell with " The Beast " and other goodies. When I talked to another doctor at that same clinic when she asked me how it went, I told her about the daily stressor thing. She rolled her eyes back and was visably P.O.'d. She didn't like this neurologist as well. What the neuro guy didn't know was that I used to be a critical care nurse. We did lots of neuro exams. I did far more then this guy even thought of doing on me.  They pay people like him to screw over legit patients. If only these judges knew what we went thru and the fakery that goes on. We need to tell them. My advocate and I worked on it together. One reason why an advocate/lawyer is so important. They never did find out what " The Beast " was and when they failed to help me they just said go back to work. The advocate and I got around that and we did win our case. After all these years, what we know of " The Beast " is that it is neuro and something is wrong but remains nameless. We know opiates block the signal that fires it off. Just having known that little fact would have helped with the diagnosis no end but they were too afraid of using those meds. So...it went undiagnosed. No one ever thought to test for fibro or Myofacial Pain Syndrome. That would have explained the " Traveling " . Sometimes we are provided with doctors with no imagination and no idea what to look for when you have pain that is not obvious. My Osteoarthritis was well advanced and the beginning of the end of my back was in place....at least the other side from the sciatica. All of these things were not being used well. Since then, my right sided L3 and L4 caved in and created the RSD leg. I dug up a ton of old history for my advocate and we sat down and made it seriously plausible. She always felt we could do it. Never, once, let me think we couldn't pull it off in spite of those damned, loser doctors. If I had not won that disability I'd have been royally screwed. I had my age on my side plus an exposure to an infection that is not healed so nursing would not be something to go back to. Back problems with nursing is well known. That played a helpful role in winning. If you are under the age of 55 it gets harder because they look for alternative work. If you are 55 or over they cannot ask you to change occupations. So you have to work around that angle....why you can't do anything at all. We have three strikes against us to start with then the doctors who are just no good at this sort of thing. Guest guest
Well some of these so-called doctors don't really understand what they are doing..in it for money or prestige. I have been really lucky over the years to go to physicians that are usually referred by friends. This one probably did not like me, as I was not a paying client...merely a referral from the Government...but he is the one that signed the contract to provide such services. He is a Quackadork...I had not a clue that this was the type of person that was going to examine me. Guest guest
Martha: In regards to the doctor treating you like crap. I found that any doctors that are hired by insurance companies are there to collect the pay check and nothiing else. I have been fighting for 4 years my workers comp claim. I have 2 herniated discs and 3 bulging discs along with sciatica and numbness. I wish you luck. joyce In a message dated 3/11/2010 9:03:51 P.M.
