Guest guest
Do all these doctors know what the others are prescribing? Have you run a drug interaction on them. She is really on a lot of meds. What are Avapro, Foltrin, Ketoprofin for? Also, what is the reason for Prednisone, and has she been on that for a long time? I don't know how old your mother is--does she have an advanced case of osteoporosis, hence the Boniva? Guest guest
Yes, they all have the same list. Avapro is for her high blood pressure, which her Neuro Dr. incresed at the same time as she DECRESED her Risperdol and also perscribed Sinemet. Foltrin is basically a vitamin, and Ketoprophen was a percription to aid in muscle inflamitory caused by arthritus and can now be bought over the counter, also called Orudis. Actually, she does not take this one very much. I FORGOT TO ADD TO THE LIST for pain: Liquid Gel Caps Advil Loritab She has ALOT of pain because of her back and the " midly deviated fracture of the left pelvis " , the later whcih happened from her fall on Easter. Guest guest
Pammie, First of all, keep in mind going forward that the doctors should NEVER change more than ONE medication at a time. She should be weaned off of the Risperdal very slowly. After that is out of her system, then the Sinemet should have been tried. And even the blood pressure medication is questionable changing at the same time (though that may be OK). You will not know if her change of behavior is from the Sinemet or from something else. And it makes them a lot worse when things are changed quickly. For pain, TYLENOL is generally used instead of Advil. I think you might want to think about changing doctors. Did you get the name of a good from from 's list? Guest guest
You mentioned Prednisone. I took it, and it has ruined my stomach. I hurt so bad I could hardly stand it, but I took it because the doctor said I absolutely had to have it. I never had stomach trouble before that. The pain was very severe. Now, I still have trouble. Thank you Prednisone. I still have lung problems the prednisone didn't touch. No, I'm not a smoker. It came from Asthma and allergies causing eosenophils to back up in my lungs so bad I have many scars, and have Chronic eosenophilia pneumonia, Meaning it will never go away. If a loved one is complaining about hurting, and is taking that stuff, BELIEVE THEM, and tell the doctor. Prednisone can cause bleeding ulcers, taking a person's life if not stopped in time. It's wonderful for those that can take it, but not for everyone. Guest guest
Imogene ~ I guess that's why my Prednisone bottle had a big " take with food " warning label on it...*LOL* I'm still taking it to deal with my stress-induced psoriasis. I'm just hoping it clears up soon enough to let me take advantage of the complex pool which opens next month! Guest guest
Jannis, I always took mine with food, and I am a big eater.(ugh!) I am one of those persons that just couldn't handle Prednisone. I told my experience because one LO had pain, and the doctor did Xrays etc, and found nothing wrong. They may not have been looking at the right cause for her pain, and probably didn't realize to what degree her pain was. It is with a helpful spirit I tell my experiences. And, I sure hope it does help.
