Guest guest
, Hi! I take 200 mg for 2 x per day. The Opthamalogist has me have vision field tests done every 6 months and now eye pressure and color tests. According to the Dr. I have a red/green deficiancy now. I have seen this Dr. for the last 10 years, and he has tested my color vision before. It was real strange to see blank pages in the test. He said the damage from Plaquinel shows up right away for somethings and a real slow gradual for others. He also said that I am getting cataracts #$ & @ from the prednisone??? But what are you going to do? He is treating me for Sjorgrens and always checks the moisture in my eyes. I currently have punctum plugs in both inner lower lids. Overall, I am so much better since I started on the Enbrel and mix of meds that I now take, that even if I complain, I would not go back and give up the good times I have had. I babysit my grandson afterschool 3 days per week - he is 5. I have my feral cat community that I love and try very hard to trap and neuter as I can. I have never liked cats, but these guys are real characters. I know I have to be very careful with the cats. We have automatic cat boxes, and I always use gloves, wash my hands, etc. They are truly my little pride of calico lions! My tongue is finally healed. Yeah!!!!!! I got pneumonia from the hyperbaric oxygen treatments which aggravated my Asthma, so I had to stop that. I started using biotene toothpaste, mouthwash, gum, etc. Brushing my teeth3 times per day and rinsing with Biotene mouthwash. These products are expensive, a small bottle of mouthwash is $7.00, ($5.00 at Walmart if I can get there), but there is something in them that is antibacterial and seems to coat your tongue and teeth. I really helped. If anyone has mouth sore or problems I would not hesitate to start with them. The problem is the SLS-Sodium Laurel Sulfate which is put in most toothpaste to make it sudsy. It is even in some of the " natural " brands like Tom's except for the children's flavor. This ingredient is known to cause mouth sores? I usually pick up my supply of Biotene at the Super Walmart here and try to keep a back up supply, because of the cost, but it really does work. Sorry for such a long letter, again I want to encourage all to remember their canes and use them. I have mine decorated with flowers, makes me feel like a flower child, not an old lady. Gentle Hugs and Prayers, Carol M. in CA
Guest guest
Dear Family, I haven't posted much, still kinda feeling sorry for myself with this broken leg, I have had the cast for 5 weeks and am hoping that it will start healing soon! I cannot believe that it is so very easy to fall. I know that sounds dumb, and it won't happen to you, but that is what I thought before this! I am doing a little bit better with the crutches, I can make it up and down the 3 steps to my house, but that is about it. Wheelchair is fine, I will repaint later? Guess I am just pretty down, I have told you I rescue Feral Cats, we live in the county area. Well, 2 weeks ago I was taking care of a baby kitten that died. I just thought it was too young, tramatized, etc. BUT then my oldest cat, Blackie, the first cat we had rescued, got sick. The vet said she had a type of autoimmune disease called FIP, but it is contagious, and she needed to be put down . She was my baby, I know you are either a dog or cat person, but I am just an animal person. She choose me when she was a tiny kitten, and it just killed me to have to do the " right " thing, but her body was shutting down and she had a fever of 106.5. I have 4 other cats in the house that I have nursed and raised as abondoned babies, the vet said it will take from 2 - 4 months if they get sick, and they will probably die! The vacine for this disease is not trustworthy, so life just goes on. I am sorry that I am so down, but this is what is happening and I need your prayers. All the outside cats (wild) have died except for 2. and the city animal shelter will not help. They will not even pick up dead animals, you have to bring them to them? I'm sorry, pretty gruesome, huh? I would appreciate your prayers because this is really eating me up. I am stuck in the house for now, so I think I have a major case of cabin fever. I really hurts to have this cast on, it is heavy and it hurts! Thank you, Carol M. in CA

Guest guest
Beth, I did not start out to be a cat lover, but I have had these cats since before they opened their eyes. Sometimes I think they do not know they are cats. The vet and my research does not give the remaining 4 much of a chance, especially the 10 week old kitten, but I do have hope and prayers, which is all I can do. FIP is a terrible cat disease and wiped out a friends cattery of 60 rescued cats in one summer. I appreciate all the concern and prayers I have received and had offered up for my babies. I guess I feel so helpless and pretty full of cabin fever, my husband says that is how he feels when I am sick. I got the Ortho tomorrow and hope that the exray will show good healing. Again, thank all of you for your help. Gentle hugs & prayers, Carol M. in CA

I am an animal lover also. We have a wolf for a pet. We have had him since he was 2 weeks old. He is just a big old baby. You are in my prayers. I hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi Carol. I'm sorry to hear about what you're dealing with right now. The cast is making it very difficult for you to get around physically, and you're starting to feel isolated. My heart breaks for you as far as the cats goes. I also rescued a feral cat 2.5 years ago and he laid by my side every single day when I was first sick with RA and bedridden for several months. Sadly, he became sick 2 months ago and we had to have him euthanized. I was heartbroken and still miss him to this day. I'm fortunate enough to have another rescue cat who has taken over the job of laying beside me and consoling me when I feel down or when I'm too sick to leave my bed. For that I am truly grateful. For some of us, having a pet to cuddle with or for companionship can make all the difference in the world when you become ill and can't get out much. You've done an amazing thing by providing these cats with love and compassion that they would have otherwise gone without. I find that it's a very rewarding experience because the animals show their gratitude ten-fold. It's sad to lose your pets, but at least you have the comfort in knowing that you loved them more than they could have been by anyone else. Take care, > Dear Family, > I haven't posted much, still kinda feeling sorry for myself with this broken > leg, I have had the cast for 5 weeks and am hoping that it will start > healing soon! Guest guest
Carol, so sorry that your leg is making you a prisoner and about your cats. It must be hard to watch the events unfold and not be able to do much about it. I'll pray that your leg heals very soon and that the remaining cats make it. Come here more often to talk about anything that is bothering you. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
i understand how you feel. i had surgeries on both my feet and many infections and slow healing time there. but the worst was when they put a piece of bone in my wrist from my hip. i was in a cast for 8 months!~! every time i'd go in he's take off the cast, wash it up, x-ray and put another cast on and said next month. i kept praying to get my thumb for x-mas, but it didn't happen until valentine's day. kathy in il
