Guest guest
Hi Ginger It could be from the potassium in the oranges & bananas. I was told to watch my potassium levels. Hope you feel better soon Robyn --- Ginger Pierce wrote: > Hi all I've been suffering from some really weird > stomache pains lately. > I believe it all started when I realized I didn't > have enough fiber in my > diet (won't explain how I came to that > realization)... so started to eat > some high fiber foods (bananas, oranges, > cereal/raisin bran, etc)... and > since then I've gotten weird pains on both sides and > towards my back, almost > in the vicinity of the kidneys...like a dull ache, > pressure ache. Guest guest
Hello Ginger, I'm not sure all your pains are due to IGAN, perhaps only because you 've been eating too much fruits at the same time. I used to have the same problems when the summers coming, with all those delicious red fruits like stawberrys and cherrys. I like so much those fruits that I eat them in so huge quantity : the result is always the same : pains in the stomach, gas, and diarrhea. My dietetician asked me to increase my takings of fiber , and he told me that a fruit at every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was the best way to do it. Hope it can help you Sophie > De : " Ginger Pierce " > Répondre à : iga-nephropathyegroups > Date : Thu, 04 Jan 2001 04:46:58 -0000 > À : iga-nephropathyegroups > Objet : Nervous stomache/stomache pains > > Hi all I've been suffering from some really weird stomache pains lately. > I believe it all started when I realized I didn't have enough fiber in my > diet (won't explain how I came to that realization)... so started to eat > some high fiber foods (bananas, oranges, cereal/raisin bran, etc)... and > since then I've gotten weird pains on both sides and towards my back, almost > in the vicinity of the kidneys...like a dull ache, pressure ache. Guest guest
Hi Ginger Did you see my back message on allergies. I have developed a severe allergic reaction to bananas, when previously fine with them. I get a rash, stomach cramps, vomiting etc etc. Because of the high potassium in bananas I was asked to avoid them, not a problem as they make me so ill LOL. Other fruits can also cause problems, if I were you I would try a elimination process exercise, cut one or all fruits you eat out for a week at a time, and see how you feel, then reintroduce them one at a time.....if you are ill, then you know which is the culprit. It might also be worth discussing this with your Nephrologist. Good luck Re: Nervous stomache/stomache pains Hello Ginger, I'm not sure all your pains are due to IGAN, perhaps only because you 've been eating too much fruits at the same time. Guest guest
I'm not really getting more infections (although right now, I have gotten my first cold since my respiratory attack that I got pre- diagnosis). As it was explained to me, Prednisone does not so much suppress your immune system as it does replace your immune system. The recommendation is to never adjust the dosage without specific care from your doctor. If you stop, you will be left with little or no immune coverage Regarding renal nutritionist -- I must have the best medical care group in the world up here (Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates). This group is about 500 doctors all associated with the Boston hospitals, and all in one care practice (covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield). So far, they've given me my Nephrologist, his nutritionist, a dermatologist for when I had my rashes, and cardio care before diagnosis of IgAN. To say nothing of maybe having the #1 or #2 renal pathologist and surgeons doing the biopsy. Add to that the fact that my General Care practitioner says that " I was his most interesting case of the year " , which means he is presenting it to his classes at Harvard Medical School. I really feel for you guys out there. I can see any of these guys any day, and get real care...
