Guest guest
Hello , hope you are on the mend after your operation, and hope it will be successful. you say you take the ventolin and atrovent 4 times a day, , doesn,t matter about the generic brands, i too use the generic brands too, however you really shouldn't be taking atrovent 4 times a day, atroven lasts up to 8 hrs, should only take 2-3 times a day, Too much will eventually cause problems and will also cause the shakes etc. Maybe you should ask the doctor about it. Probably won,t hurt for a couple of weeks but longer it will. many years ago I was on ventolin , atrovent and saline 2 hrly, and was on it like that for almost 2 months, very ill at the time, asthm had been so acute was in ICU for 6 weeks, and then came home on that dose. I had the shakes so bad, got headaches, BP went up and down, just all out of whack, when I went to GP she( at the time) never worried just kept re ordering same, came out to my home as I was too ill to go out etc. I then had to see heart surgeon, cos began having angina attacks. The heart and lung crew were shocked to find that I was still having these doses of atrovent. They got my family in etc, to let them know, my angina was caused by all the steroids and most of all the over use of atrovent. Told us to stop immediately cos it builds up in the system round the lungs and around the heart, and that was what kept heart rythm out of whack too. I was off it for 2 weeks, (washing is what they call it). Then put back on it twice a day, still had the ventolin but now 4 hrly and saline etc, thats when I startd to use saline sometimes on its own, it did so much better and I was so much better. I was just over dosed, and not even my gp of 16 yrs realised, nor did the hospital( heart lung specialist) and the physician, took any notice, till I had the very regular angina. I still get angina, but sometimes only a turn once in 2 months etc, othertimes can go longer, but its the pain that brings it on now, certainly not medication. As I say I was under all those docs, and not one said a thing, just kept prescribing and asking am I still taking it like prescribed etc. If I was you I would ask your doc about it, and even say you believe it lasts 8hrs, if you are slim, it can last 10 hrs. Your pharmacist will confirm that, but ask your doc. You certainly don,t ned any other set backs. Hope you don,t mind me telling you this. Please check it out anyway.
