Guest guest
Hi, Beth. I didn't mean to scare you. I usually post that article when people are wondering about issues involving the cervical spine in RA. You haven't mentioned findings that are anything like the complications illustrated. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) and spondylosis are terms that are sometimes used interchangeably and are nonspecific. Unfortunately, the meaning of the words depends on who is using them. Some sources use spondylosis to describe arthritic changes that occur as a result of or along with DDD, such as the formation of osteophytes (bony outgrowths or spurs) on the rims of the vertebrae and at the facet joints which can lead to symptoms such as pain, loss of range of motion, numbness, or weakness. As they age, most people will eventually have DDD or spondylosis, but most won't have serious symptoms or problems.
