Guest guest Posted May 1, 2005 Report Share Posted May 1, 2005 Hi Lillian, This is Steph in VA. Welcome to the group. I'm 27 and was diagnosed with arthritis in 1999 when I was 22. I've tried the following meds: Naproxyn, Vicodin, Celebrex, Vioxx and Enbrel. My current meds are: Prednisone, Ibuprofen, Folic Acid, Methotrexate, Flexerall, Remicade and Azulfidine. My left hand is my worst symptom because it is my dominant hand. I agree with the others about aggressive treatment b/c it works for me but I also believe every person living with a chronic illness must weigh the risks vs. benefits of the meds. I think Pat in Kansas said that untreated RA is worse in the long run. My Aunt Barbara died in January at the age of 51. The autopsy just revealed that she died of a heart attack due to untreated RA (she also had a host of other problems).
