Dear Group,

I'm new to this group, but not new to researching regarding immune

dysfunction and natural health adjuncts. The following information

was recently learned about. The controlled studies were discontinued

when the results were so great and positive that " to withhold

treatment " was not considered an alternative. [Note: The on-line

visual test costs only $8.95. I took the test recently, and will

begin treatment with Questran probably next week. Results were sent

to my physician with Dr. Shoemaker directing treatment.]

Exposure to horrible looking mold/fungus in a temporary apartment

while building a house six years ago apparently made me very ill,

with a diagnosis of RA and/or Lupus and/or MCTD following. The

exposure was not associated with the onset until a couple of years

ago. Now I feel sure that there was/is a relationship.

Excerpt from the above site follows:

What we do

This website will provide you with the information necessary to

correctly diagnose a variety of chronic illnesses that, until now,

have not been easy to confirm.

Illnesses we treat

We treat syndromes that are chronic and outside the bloodstream. Our

exams can lead to the diagnosis of pfiesteria, ciguatera,

cylindrospermopsis (blue green algae in central Florida), sick

building syndrome, Lyme disease, and soon chronic fatigue syndrome

and chronic soft tissue injury pathways when our clinical data reach

statistical certainty.

How can we help you

Standard medical diagnostic tests are usually normal in patients who

have these neurotoxin illnesses, which makes it so difficult to

diagnose and treat. We have a simple diagnostic tool that accurately

identifies the presence of neurotoxins, enabling us to diagnose treat

these diseases effectively. The diagnostic tool we use is called the

Visual Contrast Sensitivity Exam (VCS Exam).

How the VCS Exam works

Because the optic nerve and other connected nerves in the cortex of

the brain are the tissues of the body most sensitive to the effects

of neurotoxins, we can use VCS to detect the presence of a

neurotoxin. The VCS Exam demonstrates the effect of neurotoxins on

the optic nerve and the array of connected nerves in the cortex of

the brain. Additionally, we can use VCS Exam to monitor improvement

with therapy.

What causes these syndromes?

A chemical called a toxin made by a living creature causes these

syndromes. Once exposed, a person can have various symptoms due to

the presence of these chronic, neurotoxin-mediated illnesses.

Symptoms are due to the ongoing, multisystem effect of toxins that

circulate from cell to cell outside the blood system.

Our bodies do not metabolize or excrete these toxins. These chemical

toxins poison, but do not kill, fat-containing tissue in the host

(our bodies), including nerve, muscle, brain, sinus, upper airway,

lung, and bile. Hence, the symptoms of the illness reflect the

systemic nature of the disease and effect multiple organs.
