Guest guest
Hey Jill, You are sweet to ask about Sara. She has done remarkably well! We did have to make a New Years Eve trip to the surgeon today since one of her bands holding her jaw shut (or mostly shut that is) broke last night. I wasn't sure whether to call them or not. He (not her doc) had another patient who had the same problem. When she went to open her mouth, he was surprised at how far it would open.... not really a good thing but an EDS thing he thought... but things looked good in spite of this. THe challenge for her has been the not trying to eat things that aren't blenderized first!! She has a rather close relationship to food! She is still taking some demerol at night to sleep. That worries me a bit but hopefully she won't need it for long. Have a great New YEars! Guest guest
Hi ! What wonderful news. I am so glad that Sara is home and enjoying a relatively smooth recovery. You must be pleased, although the trip tot he surgeon must have felt like a setback. Hang in there though, and hopefully things will be more smooth from here on in. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for Sara to not be able to eat the foods she wants to, but soon enough she'll be back at Mcs eating fries!! Happy New Year! Thought she'd enjoy the flavor but she didn't think it was funny! I then bit a fry to soften it a bit ( didn't actually put it in my mouth) but she didn't think that was appealing either!! What does the kids want!!?? I actually had to grab a bowl of chili and rice out of her hands tonight when tattled on her!! I feel like the food-police here!! I hope she will behave at school starting tomorrow.
Guest guest
CHOCOLATE...... Did someone say CHOCOLATE!!!!....... <laughing> You know.... this one and another post jumped out at me. They are both to do with Chocolate of course!! hee hee hee. My all time F.A.V.O.R.I.T.E. staple. > CAN YOU PUREE CHOCOLATE???? THAT WOULD BE MY FIRST CHOICE!!> Of course. But it is better melted and then you can just pour it in the mouth. MmmmmMMmmmm. <sly giggle> > > The challenge for her has been the not trying to eat things that aren't > > blenderized first!! She has a rather close relationship to food! My commisserations to Sara...... What am I saying!!! She has the perfect excuse to eat chocolate.... and lots of it! No seriously. I hope Sara's Recovery is swift and she is able to eat all her favorite foods soon. Brightest Blessings.... Helen
Guest guest
You might find your job easier if people in the house didn't eat her favourite foods in her presence and if you didn't cook heavily fragrant foods that she can't eat in the house for awhile either. Perhaps if everyone in the house was on the same 'diet that Sara was, it might be easier to tolerate for her. Easier said than done.......I don't envy your job right now! Guest guest
Jill, Your comments (although unintended to do so) made we laugh!! Believe me, I am not cooking yummy or fragrant smelling things!! I am doing more cooking (and then blenderizing) for her than for anyone!! Today at the docs, she got permission to take the bands off while eating and to eat soft things........... as long as she doesn't chew. When I told him about his partners comment Sunday about her ability to open so wide already... he said she'd probably get that back sooner than others! Wonder why??
