Guest guest
Thanks Pierre, Got your message this morning and I appreciate your support. Yesterday I told Josh that I didn't think his participation in the 30 hr famine was a good idea, part of it was the fast, the other the fact that he probably would have a lot of exercise and little sleep during the whole exercise as the kids camped out at the church together from Friday evening to Sat morning. I think the project at his friend's church was to raise money for World Vision and awareness for kids about the issue of world hunger. A good idea for most kids in our affluent North America. Yesterday I did follow through and ask our GP for referrals for Josh and me for allergy testing in Calgary. Now we can pray for a miracle to have it on the same day as his next ped neph apt. on May 14, or at least in summer holidays, so he doesn't have to miss any more school, and I don't have to miss any more work days. As you may have guessed by now, I am a single parent, so all the support from this group is even more meaningful to me. Erna T.
Guest guest
Hi Erna. You're welcome. Perhaps Josh could contribute his time in some other way. Guest guest
Hi again Erna. Now I know what this 30-hour famine is about. Saw it on the news tonight. It's going on across all of Canada at certain churches this weekend. It think it was very thoughtful of your son to want to participate. Guest guest
Hi Erna. I'm emailing this off the group. I just wanted to say that even though I don't know your son, I know his story enough by now that I feel sorry he wasn't able to participate in the " famine " . I'm sure he must have been very disappointed. It probably would have been Ok, but, you never know. I do know that if it had been my son under similar circumstances, I would have said no. It's always a delicate balance, with boys especially I think. You sort of don't want to have them see themselves as being sick, or more delicate than other guys their age, but on the other hand, as a parent, you don't want to expose them to undue risk either. Good luck with the allergy testing. Take care, Pierre 30 hour famine Thanks Pierre, Got your message this morning and I appreciate your support.
