Guest guest
Thanks for the info. For people with moderate to severe RA, the anti- TNFa therapies they refer to are the new " biologicals " such as Enbrel and Humira. I don't think methotrexate targets TNF... does anybody know? Guest guest
Well, Nina, MTX has been used for decades without knowing precisely why it is effective in RA. Recent research has shown that, among its other anti-inflammatory effects, MTX does interfere with the TNF pathway, but, seemingly, primarily on the production end. The anti-TNF biologics - Enbrel (etanercept), Remicade (infliximab), and Humira (adalimumab) - inhibit TNF after production. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go!
